I already submitted the full application for PR. But I have questions for marriage status, I have a common law partner. He just got his Canadian citizenship recently. I put my marriage status as a single because I don’t claim points from him.

Should I change my marriage status to common law or not? I declare him as my common law when I applied extended study permit and PGWP before. We live separated right now

The fact that you declared yourself as common-law before and single in your current application may cause you problems as it could be understood to be misrepresentation. You should update your profile to identify him as common-law.

Because on CIC website stated If common law or spouse is PR or Canadian citizenship, I can claim points at a single. That’s why I thought I have to select a single.

Just because you aren’t claiming points doesn’t change the fact that you are common law though.

And describing yourself as single when you've already, in other applications, declared a common-law spouse may be seen as misrepresentation.

I submitted those applications last year while I still living with him. When I submitted PR application, I didn’t see non accompany options either. Now, I live different provinces with him but I will raise CSE with all support documents ASAP. Thank you though

Has the relationship ended and you're no longer in a relationship with him? Did you break up? Then yes, you're single.

Are you living apart for now, long distance, but the relationship is still ongoing? Then you're common-law.

we are living apart right now almost a year. I don’t know when I can transfer back or find the new job there. I have no idea what should I declare. I will write a letter of explanation and let’s the officer decide lol. Because on their website stated temporary living apart is not end the common law relationship. How long does consider temporary?
