Is it true that in June 2019, quebec has reached their quotas for immigrants, therefore regardless of the date the apps were submitted, none will be reviewed until new year!?

Anyone else received this by email from Mexico? (**Note thats not for me, im not in QC and my husband has his PR now)

Just looking for info for others, the issue is provincial and not federal, so only impacting QC from what i see.

Thanks!

I have a photo but this site doesnt let me upload photos.

Email is in french as it is QC:

Juste après avoir reçu un visa pour une ressortissante Cubaine dont l'époux habite en Ontario; je reçois cette note pour les dossiers des clients qui habitent le Québec ....

*************************************

De l'Ambassade du Canada au Mexique :

Veuillez noter qu'IRCC Mexique a atteint son objectif pour le Québec en juin 2019.

Par conséquent, les dossiers destinés au Québec ne peuvent être finalisés avant janvier 2020, peu importe la date de leur demande.

Was this a Family Class Sponsorship application or an Economic Class application?
As far as I am aware, there are no quotas applicable to Spouse/Common-law partner or dependent children sponsorship applications.

Seems to be for sponsorship and any immigration applications via ircc mexico, as it was confirmed on fbook earlier by someone in Quebec. Many have kids still waiting in past the 12 mths....

Also do this is solely in Quebec, they elected their own immigration branch/department within their government
Unlike the rest of Canada

Why is Quebec so special and allowed to do things totally different from the rest of Canada and still stay in confederation? Why?

Exactly the reason why I guess, allow them to do their own thing upto a point and that will keep any secession movement quiet for now.

That logic is flawed.

Alberta should threaten secession too.

Heck every province should.

I think Quebec should be told to leave. Give them what they desire. Wont change Canada much really.

But its NOT a Federal thing.... its purely just a provincial decision with the CAQ, we dont have that in other provinces;

Atlantic canada needs more immigrants we are far from any quotas lol

We've been there, tried that a couple of times already. Probably not going to happen again anytime soon.

Have you seen the fun and games regarding Brexit? It would be very similar...

Like Quebec, Alberta would have a tough time on their own while surrounded by Canada on almost all signs. So far Canadians have been smart enough to avoid the disaster the brits have created for themselves. Was around for the rallies last time and after the referendum loss the appetite for separation slowly went away. Quebec’s economy has literally only recovered in the past 5-10 years from all the separation politics and referendums. If there are pipeline issues now, can only imagine what would happen if Alberta separated. Pipeline would never happen.
