Hi all,

I had applied for a research analyst program for Jan 2020 intake but unfortunately refused. The reasons were a) The officer not convinced that I would leave at the End of study based on purpose of visit b) Proposed study not reasonable in light of previous education & work.

I have the following queries would be of great help if addressed for the individual points:
a. Can I show photo copies of the property owned by my parents this time, in order to prove my family has financial assets and a strong reason to come back
b. I have mentioned last time in SOP that I would come back and work in my home country. Can I now mention that I need to join my family business once I am back. Has some one made alternations to the angle of their SOP's the second time?
c. Is it ok to show a Life insurance policy where I pay regular yearly premiums

For more info, would love to share my background in case some one can help me out

Hi, I’m not an expert at it but yes, you should literally put anything that will show that you’re not planning on staying in Canada after you’re done your studies (family property, job opportunity) and you need to explain how and why you studying in Canada will help you build a betterment life in your hometown. However, the second reason of your refusal said that whatever you applied for isn’t reasonable in light of your previous education & work. And I don’t think showing how financial stable or your plans for the future won’t help you for that. I’ll suggest you to order CAIPS to see what are the real reason of your refusal.
Hope this was useful.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for taking out the time to help me out.
I completely understand that financial documents won't help me to prove the connection of the previous studies. How about the point b (change in the angle of SOP), of coming back and doing my family business. That is the truth as well. The only thing is last time like an idiot I went on to put that I will come back for employment in India.

This is main concern of changing the angle of the SOP.. Any thoughts or inputs??

Hi,

I got the refusal mail last tuesday. Had applied online (SDS) . The time within which I got the refusal was 5 days from the date of application. I am planning to make paper based application for exhaustive documentation.

what are you doing for point (b) of rejection reason. How it is not related to your previous work/study? What did you mention the relevance in your SOP?

Hi,

In my last SOP I had mentioned the benefits of my course, the subjects that I was interested and how it would be useful for my future employment back home. I was not aware that they could disconnect it with my previous education or work.
I have done Bachelors in Commerece (Accounting&Finance). Don't know what is wrong in pursuing a research analyst program to enhance my technical and quantitative skill sets ( Which is what I mentioned in my previous SOP).

Thank you for sharing your results. If you don't mind me asking, how many years has it been since you completed your bachelor degree? The reason I ask is because I've heard that if it's been more than 5 years of study from B. COM then a study permit is not permitted. Is this true?

Hi,

It has been little over 3 years. Right after college worked in a consulting firm for 2.5 years and this Jan'19 I joined my family business. My intent is to up skill myself. But now I am doubting whether I can go. If an officer feels that students are picking random courses of no use then they should question the institution as well. After 1 year of fees and living expenses, they dont think the past education is relevant. This is like playing with student's life . Really unfair

I will share a recent example of my friend who came here last month. His background is completely different than what he wants to study. I kept on advising him to look for a program that will match with his background but he was not convinced that he wants to spend money in something that he has already studied and no longer interested in making a career in that field. And i was very convinced that he wont get an approval unless he finds a program matching his background. To my surprise, he got help from somebody and got the visa . i am not very qualified to advice on the details but I have sent you a link about a law or whatever they call it in the legal field which was used in his reapplication. check that. It may help you.
