70% of trv applications are getting rejected at first.

Blame goes to jump in misrepresentation cases from 0.8% to 2.5% in 2019. It results in 5 year ban. Applicants who uses fraudulent means are causing trouble for genuine visitors. India has one of the worst approval rate after African and war torn countries.

Actually I don't know exactly when. I only noticed the change in eligibility status yesterday but it could have easily been immediately after my mother got her Biometrics done. I just didn't pay any attention to it.
As you see in the status, the eligibility evaluation is still under process; for me, it was the Biometric correspondence letter that was a somewhat significant update in the status.
