Hi people,

I have searched all over internet and i see nobody has explaind how to get the bank letters. The format has been mentioned but how do i go about this? Do I go to the bank with a draft letter and ask them to add balances, put a letterhead and sign on it? I have hdfc bank account in India, how long do they take to give the letter? someone said it would take only a day, can anyone confirm this because after receiving the gift deed i will only have about 15 days to submit application.

Hi. I don't have experience with HDFC but i can tell you how i got this done at Kotak and SBI.

I received a gift deed on a friday and on monday i was at the bank branch asking for these documents.
I created a draft that listed out all the requirements. Please see this link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...nada/express-entry/documents/proof-funds.html

The draft i created had particular focus on these points:
For proof, you must get official letters from any banks or financial institutions where you’re keeping money.

Letter(s) must
  • be printed on the financial institution’s letterhead
  • include their contact information (address, telephone number and email address)
  • include your name
  • list outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans
  • include, for each current bank and investment account, the
    • account numbers
    • date each account was opened
    • current balance of each account
    • average balance for the past 6 months

Kotak agreed and gave me the letter within minutes. SBI said no initially, then we decided to give them the draft, which they took a print out of and stamped it for us. That took a couple of hours.

I advise you to speak to ppl you know at your home branch. They should be able to get this done quickly.
