WES Result Query

Hey,

I received an odd result for my WES Report and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. I've sought clarification from WES - who are less than helpful and won't provide any information.

Redacted image of the report is below - but I can't find any information on how this would be assessed.

Report says 'Completion of Two College-Level Certificates (One Semester)'. Each certificate is a continuation of the last - so the candidate would complete the CILEX Diploma, and then they do further study and complete the CILEX Certificate.

The issue is that my understanding is that two semesters = 1 year. The CRS Assessment Result table just has 'Completion of College Level Certificate' which would be equal to 'One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute'

I know that a 'College Level Certificate (One Semester)' result would basically equal nothing, but what if it's two college level certificates where the two certificates are essentially part of the same course? Has anyone come across this before?

EDIT: Just trying to fix the image!

I might have the same situation coming ahead. I have one certificate in German language and a diploma in German language.

WES already give equivalency to my friend who has only certificate in German as completion of college level cert (one semester).

I hope I get equivalency of an year, as they are the same course :(

CIC is keen only with the final equivalency what the evaluation agencies provide therefore this result won't fetch any points. As far as pursing the certificates in the same stream goes , it can only be speculated to be considered as one year but it's at the sole discretion of the agencies. I'd recommend you to try other agencies like IQAS, CES etc if at all you have them pursued in the same stream.

So I have received the report today, wherein I had submitted them three credentials out of which two were completion of college level cert (one semester) which they didn't consider to be one year in total.

I wrote to them the following:

Dear Team,

I think, there is a minor mistake with my ECA report. I have submitted three credentials 1) Certificate in German, 2) Bachelors and 3) Diploma in German. Evaluation of Credential 2 is fine, but it seems confusion arose because of Credential 1 & 3. Each of them (cert & diploma) has been given equivalency of completion of college level certificate (One Semester). Since Diploma in German is a continuation of Certificate in German and each one has been given equivalency of one semester, hence ideally both together should be equivalent to completion of college level certificate (one year) in summary.

Certificate in German= completion of college level cert (one semester), then diploma in German= completion of college level cert (one semester), so technically in summary shall it not be equivalent to completion of college level cert (one year), one is continuation of other (one semester + one semester= 1 year ). Both of them are pursued though same university and same college in a consecutive year and in continuation with no gaps.

May I please request your evaluation team to look into this?

From where did you do your German course? Was it a proper college/university listed course?

At WES, Credentials are evaluated as individual and not combined. So, two 6 month certificates won't be considered as a 1 year certificate. A 1 year certificate must of be 1 year duration.

Yes, it is. It's a recognised university.

May be. Let's see what's their reply. I m aware Iqas give equivalency of this course as one year and I had sent to them as well for eca.

I do understand, but in my country the course was for one year. So with those two certs, I studied for two years, which wes consider to be one semester each. Anyway, I never had many hopes from them, hence applied to Iqas two months back ;).

Just trying my luck with wes.

Hi All,

I have just one doubt. I have done a one year "Certificate course in German" from "University of Delhi". While entering this for credential evaluation at WES, shall I submit it under head "Bachelor's degree program"? I was not sure of this as there is nothing mentioned for certificates. Other options are "Master's degree program or post graduate diploma program" and "Doctoral Degree Program".

thank you for your help in advance.

Was your certificate course in German, academic in nature? Does your certificate say anywhere that it is an academic degree programme or a post graduate diploma academic programme? If not, then your certificate course in German is not a valid academic certificate and thus not eligible for evaluation.

WES evaluates diplomas/degree which are academic in nature. You might want to look at some other evaluation agency such as CES/IQAS/ICAS or CES.

Don't waste time on evaluation of certificate course in German or any other foreign language from DU to WES.

I got my cert and diploma both evaluated by Wes and they gave it equivalence to completion of college level certificate (one semester). In spite of two college level cert (one semester), they do not consider as one year, hence no points on CRS.

I got those certs evaluated by IQAS which have University diploma equivalence one year, hence I can use them two select two or more degrees :)

1 year graduate study is not a valid Canadian equivalency credential and hence can not be used for points.
If your ECA read one credential as 1 year graduate study and you claimed points for it, it will be refused.

Dear,

It was addition to my bachelors.
1) my bachelors = 4 yr Canadian bachelors
2) cert in German= completion of college level cert (one semester)
3) diploma in German= completion of college level cert (one semester)

Final summary only bachelors (4 yr)
I gave re- evaluation request and they clearly confirmed two X cert(one semester) is NOT equal to one cert (one year)

Either way, even if the ECA says that the certification is one year, applicant cannot claim points for 2 or more degrees.
