Hey folks,

I'm on an IEC Visa. It expires on September 4th. Does that mean I have to be out of the country by the 3rd at the latest or can I book a flight for the 4th?

The price difference for the flights is significantly cheaper on that day. Thoughts?

Thanks!

I am returning with my Canadian wife for the duration of an outland spousal PR application. It won't make any difference to that? I've read some horror stories about brief over-stays and technically I will have over-stayed by.... An afternoon.

I'm over thinking it, right?

You said your IEC expires on Sept 4th so that means it expires at 2400 hours on the 4 th so not sure what you are talking about an afternoon.

The best approach for you would be to now apply to extend your stay as a visitor if you are worried about it then you can leave after the 4 th given you would be on a visitor implied status until that was approved .

I figured because I arrived on the 4th September 2017 that the visa would expire at 2400 on the 3rd. An expiry on the 4th when the clock strikes midnight so to speak.

But if you're saying that's for sure not the case then that's great news.

If you look at the actual IEC work permit it has an expiry date on it , the date you arrived is not relevant only the actual date on the permit. If that date on the physical permit says Sept 4 th you should be fine if says on the permit Sept 3th then that’s the expiry date but you said the 4th.

Both the date in my passport and on the IEC letter I received on arrival have September 4th written as the expiry date.
