Spouse sponsorship

Am a PR holder and planning to get married this year. The person am marrying Is going to arrive on visitor visa to Canada and we will do registered marriage here. Am assuming that she will fall under implied sponsorship status once we get married. Can she travel out of the country until she gets her PR through sponsorship or there is no way She can go out of the country or even to home country in that waiting period ?

No sponsorship application gives you status. If you apply inland with an open work permit, the OWP is what provides status. Short, infrequent trips are generally acceptable on an inland application but important to note if she is denied re-entry at the border the application will be abandoned. If she plans to travel a lot she should apply outland but know she has to have valid status if inside Canada on an outland application.

There is no "implied sponsorship status" once you got married.

She can travel in and out of the country if her current passport and visa allows it. Getting married doesn't make a difference.

If you plan to apply "inland" sponsorship, she needs to stay in Canada. There is a OWP option for inland applicants.
If she applies as "outland", she can go anywhere and wait at her home country until approved. There is NO OWP available for outland.

Seems quite strange that you would suggest not living together after getting married. You are also not referring to a fiancé(e) so it sounds like this may be an arranged marriage. Depending on what your/her country of origin is and whether you have dated for a long time of this is more of an arranged marriage you should consider whether a registered marriage would be atypical and raise a red flag. Will you be having another ceremony or a religious ceremony? In some cases a registered marriage wasn’t considered because the couple didn’t live together afterwards and the religious ceremony was going to happen later.

Thanks for the response. We would be living together but she may need to travel to homemade country in order to wind up some business there or to meet her parents.
