Same here, we have 3 dogs and we will b taking them with us
Great.
Have any of you talked to anyone about Airline arrangements?
We are taking our cat. What I know so far,
1. Have a proper medical card - with all Vaccination details. We adopted her in 2017, so I have two years worth record details in her card. The medical card should be from a valid vet, with their registration Number & clinic details, a photograph of your pet on the card and the Doc's note on the physical description of the animal.
2. Rabies vaccination is a must, and the pet must have received the vaccination. Rabies vaccination is 1 year validity. And when you get any vaccination, the doc will attach the label from Injection vial and paste it on the card. With its expiry details, when is the next vaccination due etc.
3. Medical Clearance Certificate from Animal control - with Govt of India seal. Needs to be done 10-15 days before you travel. They will check your Medical Card, and then issue a letter confirming. Not sure about other cities - for Chennai , we have a Animal Quarantine Center by Gov of India in Pallikaranai, where we can get this done.
4. I do not have a clear idea, however for now - Air Canada is a good option. They even allow the pet inside cabin, provided it is inside the cage all the time, and will be under your seat. However if you get a seat near emergency exit, you will not be allowed to carry in cabin. Also from what I hear, it is better if your pets are not in cabin. Apparently they take good care, and ensure there is silence, mild light where they are kept so they dont panic. Carrying in a noisy, well lit cabin, with so many people around might upset your pet.
5. You have to get a good pet carrier. There are rules. Check IATA - International Air Transport Association for these details . https://www.iata.org/Pages/default.aspx
6. CBSA - Canadian Border Services Agency will inspect your pet on arrival. $55.00 CAD for first pet and $30.00 CAD for every additional pet. Also CBSA doesn't require us to put in a tracker. But people suggest that it is good to get it done. Or at least a tracker that can go on the collar. Check with your vet. Because some import the microchip and it is a 2 month waiting period.

Also there are restriction on certain breeds, as they don't survive a Air travel. I am sure you would have verified that first. But still putting it out here. Not all animals can travel without a risk to their life.

Thank you for your kind words.

I had called to check if there has been any update. Ordered GCMS notes back in April but did not receive.
With people getting PPR post my AOR, just wanted to check if anything has been completed or not.
But will wait now. Let's see, if there is any update within 13 days. :)
No worries. 13 days is great. People got it done in the last 3-4 days before the 6 month was up.
And as much as we would want, cannot compare with the date. We have AOR Nov 2 still waiting. And AOR Nov 28th, 30th etc being processed. There is no order to this based on AOR dates. So we should just forget about this AOR date!

Hi friends, I got the PPR mail today morning. My AOR was on November 24 and there was/is no changes in my profile. Hopefully all those who applied at the same time should get PPR in around 10 days.

As next step is the VFS visit, I have a few doubts regarding that.

1) Do I need to give biometrics to them?

2) How many days will it take for them to get it transferred to Delhi, stamped and return to us?

3) Which is a better option? Chennai VFS or Banglore VFS?

Thanks in advance.

Based on certain posts I've read over the past few weeks about Chennai VFS (apparently they run some kind of expensive photograph racket) I would say if Bangalore VFS is an option for you go there.

(I've read people complaining on various channels that Chennai VFS will say your photographs are not of the correct specifications even if they are. Then they ask you to get photographs clicked through their inhouse service which will charge an exorbitant amount, not accept anything but cash and will not return any change if you don't have any on you.)

ohhh! The ____. Have to face these until the minute you leave. The very reason for some to even leave!
Any idea how much they are charging? I am from Chennai, and taking a 8hr trip to Bangalore wont work. I might as well do it here in chennai.

This is a very detailed post. Thank you :)
I would be travelling with my pet too. A persian cat er adopted.
Air Canada was our 1dt option. However the size they mentioned when we called them for cabin..It was too small. We checked in vet shops and found that the carrier size they suggested is good for only a guiniea pig.
However Air Canada is direct flight so better that way..And if u choose cargo for ur pet then no issues.
I am very reluctant in keeping my pet in Cargo. I would prefer to keep ke with me, so Air Canada option has been waved off.

Now we are looking for Lufthansa. We called them, and their cat carrier dimension allowed in cabin is 118cm dimension. 8kgs total. This is way bigger and does not give a restriction to any particular size dimension. Only issue is it has 2 stop at Germany.

So whichever flight u choose, call them up 1st to get to kMow their rules of carrying pet. Each has their own.

Microchip is not required, but we were told in India it is required. Do if u ever plan to bring ur pet to India, they won't allow it in if no microchip is there from India.
Lastly Canada does not need quarantine..But India needs. Pet won't be allowed to leave India if there is no Quarantine certificate from India. Again, another useless step. I am from Kolkata and I visit the animal husbandry, i was told they will give quarantine certificate if we have all vaccinations record in place and updated..And health certificate.

I am still waiting for PPR..But started the vaccinations. 2 vaccines are require for cat.

Please let me know if u need any more information. Would be glad to help

wow..a cat! I knew there was a connection. Lol.
Are the airlines giving any info on how would they care for the pet during stops? Are these stops longer than an hour?
And the Quarantine certificate - Is it 15 days before travel or I can get even now and keep?
I would love to keep her with me in the cabin, but I just dont want her scared. Or worse offend other passengers that may raise hue and cry for nothing. I love my cat, they dont have to.
If she starts crying or worse pee or poop in the carrier, it will be a tough situation in the cabin.

AOR 2 seems like an unlucky number I guess.

Even after June they don't make a decision, I may consider withdrawing my application and reapplying. Let's see what happens this month.
Yeaaa maybe AOR 2 isn't that lucky!! :/ Umm withdrawing your application at this stage as in the last stage would not help much I guess; rather this could make things slow - I mean that's what I think. Better you research properly before carrying forward this thought.
Honestly, I haven't been feeling anxious or frustrated by now; but today has really turned me down. I was expecting things to move forward after 2 weeks at least so I am really feeling low today. God knows what will happen...!
But again, we don't have any option than staying hopeful and positive :)

Did you call cic for updates?
Yes, I did on May 3. Happened to speak to a nice agent; she informed that my application looks good with no significant review or flag. She took around two minutes to look into my notes to provide me with the details. In fact, she told that my profile is stuck largely because the officer handling my case is waiting for the response from the foreign governments which in my case are the UK and India. At last, she suggested me to wait till September 18. I have no clue what's ACTUALLY going on.
Raised CSE (web form) - received a very general reply
So, thinking to order GCMS notes in a day and call in a few days.
What's your status?

still background check has not started . .:(:(:(
From the trend I've read here, it seems like BG starts around 4 days before deadline.. Hope we get movement in 2 days.. Let's keep on praying!

Just spoke to a nice agent at the call center.. She said nothing seems to have started on my application.. Bg check and criminality have not begun.. My application was last touched in January and since then nothing has moved.. With just 3 days left as per my timeline, am not sure how they are going to complete the processing of all checks.. Am all set to cross the 6 month timeline.. Phew.. Disappointed / anxious..
Ah! I know how it feels, feeling the same today. My status is 2 weeks past my 6-month timeline and no update. But all I can say is that keep your spirit up. I hope and wish you receive it next few days. Sometimes they are very fast with the process, once they pick a file. so Be positive!
