Hello, I'm trying to find out if I have a criminal record will I still be able to write an invitation letter for people in my family to come visit me here in Canada I'm a Canadian citizen. or is the criminal record going to be a problem.
It shouldn't be a major issue, unless the crime was murder or assault or something delightful like that. But I don't believe IRCC is in the habit of criminal record checks for letters of invitation.

Well, you'll be barred from sponsoring any family members as PRs, but unless they decide to do a criminal record check on you through your letter of invitation (which I do not believe they do), then maybe it'll get through.
Also, as a tip - if you've been convicted of assaulting a police officer, drop the "so they say" part, even if you rightly believe that the charge was bogus and they were roughing you up. The only way you can get through anything like a discharge is by admitting the crime - you will not get a pardon or receive credit for good behaviour if you continuously deny the conviction. I know it sucks, and I know a lot of assault on police officer charges come when they're beating you up trying to arrest you, but you need to be careful now that you have this on your record.
