Hey Bro. We almost got same date. I am Oct 23 2017, 3 dependants, wife and two kids. No updates since Sept last year. Luckily my medicals was late (sept 13, 2018). It’s been over 18 months of waiting.
Don’t know what to do. When is your medicals? Was it earlier than mine and has it been extended?
Hey man!
My family got medical in mayv2018, and mine was end of March 2019(I had a medical one done for pgwp)
Oh it's been over 18 months?? I was hoping to get mine within 18 months, as per the processing time it should be 18 months max.
I get lawyer to deal with it. Can't have access to to application

Processing time is 20 months right now. You can phone IRCC directly, talk with an agent to see what stage your application is at (Medical, Background check, Security check, etc.)

I was told that security check is the last stop before they make the final decision but I may be wrong.
Honestly, I don't know what to believe. I was told, background check has started and then we came to know that not yet, however criminality is processing. Also eligibility hasn't started yet. And we have been waiting for 18 months.

I am not an IRCC officer so I can’t tell you with certainty but I believe every officers should have their own ways of getting things done as all of us have our own ways to get ours done. I know it is hard to calmly wait for the result, but that is the only option we have so far. So let’s give ourselves a little more time before we have a party with the good news.

Sorry to break it to you but the answer is not necessarily. background checks include eligibility, medical , criminal and security checks . and from what I have noticed and personal experience I believe every visa officer have different orders of getting those checks done . in most cases security check would be the last one for sure, but in some other cases they do security first . my guess is that the officers will send out those requests on those checks and they will mark the check has been passed when they receive the results for that particular check. so it could be anything that came back first to them .

the most certain way to find out is to order a GCMS note, it will tell you more about any other way we have, certainly more than what those call center agents have to offer.

since we are on this topic I would like to share a little more about security check that I have learnt. if you got dependent that's an adult , or you or that adult dependent has worked in some sensitive position such as government position or slightly related to the government or have military service history with a rank that's over a foot soldier , or your country doesn't have a friendly relationship with Canada , or they received a huge number of applications for that period of time such as the end of the year and many other good " reasons " , CSIS will take their sweet time processing those applications. and that's why so many of us have been left with only the security checks to be done . I gathered this information from many sources , and I personally believe it make sense . just to offer you guys a possible answer .

That is true.
The best way to know about your application first time is by ordering gcms notes.
once you know your security is under process for more than 2 months you can order CBSA and CSIS notes to understand the actual situation.
CSIS will release update if CBSA has transferred the case to CSIS for security and CSIS will release the notes in 2 steps - Preliminary and final

just one more question , how can I order CSIS and CBSA notes? I believe many others will ask the same one. Thank you
