Hello. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Heres a little about our situation. We have been dating three years and due to the fact that i have only worked entry level jobs and have no trade skills. I was suggested that our best option is to have her sponsor me. We have been together for three years. Albeit there is some time where we broke up but we got back together. I have managed to procur our call logs for at least a year and half. She wants to goto school and i would like to be able to be sponsored and come up to canada and work while shes at school. Ive read that i can apply for sponsorship and once i arrive (Land) i can apply for an open work permit either from within canada or outside canada before i arrive. Now my question is does she have to be working for her to able to sponsor me.
We dont really wanna wait 6 years while she goes to school if we dont have to. Im completely capable of working.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. if you have questions just ask and ill do my best to provide more details.

Is she a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident? Or are you intending that she comes to Canada on a study permit and then you follow?

Are you married? If you aren't married, have you been living together for at least one whole year in a marriage-like relationship - and can you prove that?

Importantly, have you been living together for at least one whole year in a marriage-like relationship, SINCE you last broke up.
A break up is likely to be seen as an overt termination of a period of cohabitation and the relationship, probably resetting the clock to zero again.

In that case, she can't sponsor you as a spouse (you're not married) or as a common-law partner (you haven't lived together for one year). You would need to meet one of those two conditions before you can be sponsored.

were planning to get married so she can sponsor me.

If you're getting married so that she can sponsor you, you will be denied. IRCC doesn't like marriages that are solely for immigration purposes. You'll have to prove that you got married because you want to be married and live together - not because you want sponsorship.

i want to get married to live together and be with her but the only way i can live with her is through marriage. i have no other way to immigrate there. would it be recommended to get married and wait a year before applying?

You can get married and apply immediately. Just think about how you will prove the genuineness of your relationship to IRCC. If you have years of emails/chat conversations talking about your life together, you've taken vacations together, you've discussed children.. etc. etc. then it's fine.

If you can't show that you knew each other for more than 2 months and suddenly you're getting married and wanting to immigrate, that's not fine.

Basically, if you are a real couple, you can get married and apply. You don't need to wait.

Conversely, if you aren't a real couple and are just getting married to get into Canada, you have a high chance of denial even if you wait a year.

Start gathering things that prove that the two of you are a real couple who fell in love and decided to get married. You guys have a lot of history, so it should be easy enough. Facebook messages, emails, pictures, hotel bills and flight tickets - all that.

Those are good to have but you should also include things like proof of time spent together (e.g. flights, hotels booked together for vacations etc.) and other things you have shared like gifts, cards, photos doing things together, proof your friends and family know about your relationship. The phone/chat records likely won't be enough on their own.
