Hi
I was wondering if anyone knows why is the Mississauga case processing center center is taking so long to send a test invite to write the citizenship test. All I received from them so far is a letter stating that they received my application on November 20th 2017 and they started processing my application on November 6th 2018. I have called the IRCC several times and they keep telling me they don't no why the Mississauga office is taking long and they do not see that they need any documents from me, so I should just wait until they call me in to write my test. I ahbe been waiting forever. I do not live in Mississauga so I do not no why would they send my file there.

There are only a set number of offices, off the top of head there are three West of the GTA, others being Brampton and Hamilton, more in London/Windsor.
Then there’s Scarborough... or Ottawa with nothing in between.

So even if you live in say Oakville or Kitchener it may well go to Mississauga, no guarantee it’s the closest one with three that close.

Next, you haven’t been waiting that long. They quote a year, and that’s an average, especially around this region, if you want fast processing look to NB, PEI or maybe SK. We have a lot of people and a lot of immigrants in Southern Ontario, I saw 49% quoted and while some are already citizenships, many are not.

I went IP two days ago. I expect to wait 4-6 months to hear anything now. It sucks I know.

If you look for the thread related to when you applied they will have a spreadsheet showing how others are faring and you can add your details in as well.

I wouldn’t be worried until 12 months. And I know someone (possibly that office or Brampton) who waited 15 to get a FP! He is now DM waiting on oath.

Is there a way if someone is a resident of Mississauga and then apply through other immigration offices in NB , PEI etc for faster processing?

The only way to do this is moving there and applying from there. All apps are sent to NS and then from there they send them to the office closest to your address.

Not an easy workaround unfortunately :)

No definitely not. All you have to have is patience. Ontario is big province and GTHA is a huge region and a lot of immigration happens here but government has limited resources to deal with it and has created a huge surge of applicants with Bill C-6 back in October 2017 creating huge back log. And just a correction of the post above there are only 3 offices that deal with citizenship in GTHA and those are Mississauga,Scarborough and Hamilton...bare in mind that everything west of 403 falls in to Hamilton and the East of 403 falls under Mississauga and Scarborough.

When they're receives my application they waited a year to send me a letter saying that it is in process. I find tha odd. Its now 1 year and 5 months In total I am waiting.

Why didn’t you follow up after 6 months?
Yes, I agree that it’s odd. You may want to send a webform request?!?!

I would send webform request or better request ATIP notes. They are $5. It might move your application. I requested them and 2 weeks after i got test invite (not sure if that moved my app or not(worth the try as you already spent so much money on application and waited so long)).

I followed up every two months and they could not get any information on my file because it was not in process yet. The only time I got info on my file is of last year November 2018 and I sent it in on November 17 2017.

How do I go about getting the webform request?

Actually I did fill up the web form and they said if I don't hear nothing by march 7th 2019 I should contact them again.so I waited and I still did not hear any response from them. So I filled up another web form and I said to them that I have not heard anything from them and so they told me that I just have to wait because they messaged them and they are not responding to their email. I called ircc three weeks ago and they still told me that the Mississauga office is not responding to their email and they do not no what's going on over there and I just have to wait.

Are you okay to wait? If not; call them up again and remind them that your application has exceeded the normal processing time. If you WISH; You could contact your local MP. Please check the google reviews about them before contacting. Just in case!!

Kitchener has it's own office.
