My wife already traveled twice (once without me). We don't even have an AoR yet. They asked her a bunch of questions and let her through. When she was traveling with me, it was much faster, but no problems faced. Looks like it depends on the officer. Nobody has a right to not let your spouse through if he/she haven't broken any immigration rules (stayed under 6 month in Canada)
Very true, but they can deny you (or your spouse) entry if they think your stay might cause problems. Especially with an inland application where you have to wait quite a while without being able to work, they might have suspicions about working illegally or not being able to buy a ticket back.
It all does depend on the officer. But someone being able to deny you because they feel like it is not a great feeling. It’s not a risk I’d want to take again (unless there is a really urgent reason to leave). Your wife was lucky, someone else might not be though.

I agree, but if someone really has to travel somewhere, they have a right. They let us reenter the country to renew the TRV status, there is no point in not letting a person in. Legal visa, legal status, a spousal app in process...i mean this officer has to be a real jerk, unless he finds really smth suspicious. We also had a child with us, maybe that helped...

I think so, we are pretty young and that is our disadvantage, I guess. I agree, urgent situations are different.

Just a correction - You don't have a right to be let back into the country. I understand what you're saying, and I agree in many cases the officer would have to be an ass, but it's in no way whatsoever a right. They have all the discretion in the world to deny your entry if they want to.

You are right. But having everything in order will minimize the chance of a failure. I once was let into the country in Niagara Falls without a passport ( i did not know i was crossing a border when went to the bridge:)) Just showed a scanned copy of my PR card on my phone) Canadian Border Agency is much better than the USA one but still, always come prepared, do not risk

Congratulations! Do you mind letting me know how you were informed of the AOR? Or how you checked.
Thank you! Yes, as another poster said, both my husband (PA) and myself (Sponsor) received an email as notification. Enclosed was our UCI and Application Number. I immediately tried to link it to my existing CIC account, which I was able to do using our Application Number and my husband's Family Name.

I can try and recall the exact steps I took, if anyone is having trouble linking after receiving AOR1!

I was just about to reply to your other post - congrats on the AOR! It will soon change on GCKey, it's just the description they use for the status of the application before they issue AOR and there can be some delays between issuing the e-mail or GCKey updating properly.

Gosh, this part of being patient is difficult. I called the immigration line two times in the past week, both with the same response, they have nothing to report. The person on the phone today said they had another question to ask me (she was so nice) and I accidentially hung up - then I called back (funny thing - lines weren't busy ans I got in twice in a row) asking what the question was and the other person had no idea what I was talking about. I then said to myself, holy crap, am I gonna make them suspicious with how many times I've called this week? Hahaha. Time to take a step back. Good things will happen.

This is gonna be one loooooooooong process. :p
