Hi all,

I am planning to visit Indian Consulate in SFO next week to apply for my PCC. I wanted to know how long it takes at the Consulate to accept my application. The website says there's no appointment and applicants can visit between 9am-12pm.

I am considering to schedule my medicals on the same day if the consulate work can be finished before noon.

TIA

Hi,

I am also in a similar situation. Planning to go early next week for PCC at SFO. Can you please share your experience if you have already visited and what is the status?

Also, Is you passport issued in india or at SFO?

Thanks

I visited SFO Indian consulate last year when I applied for PR. The Indian consulate took less than 1 week to send me the police certificate to my San Jose address in the same prepaid fedex envelope I gave them.

Thanks, Sashi for the response.

Can you please also tell me about where your passport was issued? I renewed my passport here in SFO. this thing can vary timeline as per the other threads.

p.s. : I am also from San Jose and moving to Vancouver. how about you?

Are you already there in Canada? I am software Engineer here.

Thanks

My passport was issued from India. While some people say there is a time difference for passports issued by the same consulate are processed faster, I have not seen any such thing from the SFO consulate and all Indian passports can take up to 1 week (Don't worry about your India Police certificate, they will reach you faster and more reliable before your FBI police certificate arrives in snail mail after long time). I have completed my soft landing in Toronto already. Rest of the details in my signature

Hey thanks, Pal for the helpful info.

Forgot to ask, Did they hold a passport or it's just for verification when you do in-person visit?

Also, I have just applied to the FBI for PCC, how much time it took for you?

About the prepaid FedEx envelope, Can we get it in consulate by paying money or do we need to arrange one prior to visiting?

Do you mind if I ask you where you are now? you are back in states after soft landing?

Thanks

Your original passport will be returned back to you. Only a self attested copy is retained by the Indian consulate when I applied. FBI PCC took several months for me (90+ days) because FBI was really backlogged back then. I think it is faster now. You need to go to fedex office and buy a prepaid envelope with from address : SF Indian consulate's address and to address: Your address and give the fedex envelope to officer in the Indian SFO consulate. The consulate will not provide any such fedex service.

I'm currently in India since I had to get my visa stamped for US, but will be back in US shortly.

Hey pal, thanks a lot for all the information.

I have submitted an application to the consulate for PCC. hope to get it done fast!

For the medical, which panel physician do you recommend? I have one in Berkeley and one in LA. I am planning to get it from LA as they accept HSA card. Also, I am taking my passport and ITA letter. is there anything in particular which I should take care of?

Thanks in advance.

I went with Berkeley for medical. They do not accept HSA card. However in Berkeley the whole process is done reasonably faster. I will assume other places may take more time.
Following was my timeline when I did the medical
Initial wait time and form fill-up and disclosures - 20 min
Blood and urine samples - 5 min
Wait for doctor - 10 minutes
Physican examination - 10 minutes
Wait for X ray paper to go to the lab - 10 minutes
Going to the lab- 15 minutes (The lab was about 1 mile away. With car it should take only 5 minutes. Parking took longer)
Wait at the lab- 45 minutes (It was a crowded day)
X ray time - 1 minute
Waiting for CD - 15 minutes
Correction on CD - 20 minutes (They misspelled my last name on the CD, so I had to argue with them to get it fixed. Thankfully I noticed it)
Driving back to hospital - 10 minutes
Deliver back the CD - 5 minutes.

You can ask for a copy of all the test results as well. By default only IRCC gets the results. If you also want to see them, they can provide a soft copy to your email for free.

Got the results - 12 hours later in the night

Good luck. No matter which center you go, provide yourself with enough time to do the whole process. While they try to streamline things, hospital is a hospital and you are not a critical patient so it will take time. Good luck

Hey Everyone, it may help if anyone comes back and reads this thread. I had gone to SF consulate on November 27, all the documents were correct for me. The cashier in the second counter said it may take 2 to 3 weeks let me check. She got some print out from the psk portal and attached to my documents. She said "oh yeah, don't worry, you will get in one week." I got it in 6 days. including all the thanksgiving holiday and weekend holiday.

My passport was issued in India in 2013.

my timeline:
Submitted doc: 27 Nov.
Got notification on 3 December for my tracking activation on my fedex return package:
Documentation shipped from consulate: December 2.
Got the document on December 3.

Only problem was the shipping label on the envelope I gave them. I had from address as consulate address and to address as my home address. She asked me to change the to address as well to my home address because as I paid through my credit card, it won't accept the initial zip code from somewhere else. The initial zip code should match the zip code to the zip code on my credit card. I asked if there is not gonna be any problem as the from address is different, she said no problem at all.

There wasn't any problem at all.
DM me if you have any questions.
