Getting a Post Graduate Work Permit for PR if I study more after getting my Canadian BSc

Hello all!

I am on my final semester of my BSc at a Canadian university, and my goal is to apply for PR through Express Entry. I currently have around 420 points, but no relevant work experience. Seeing as I am interested in veterinary medicine, I was thinking of doing a 1 year Vet Assistant program at Academy Canada immediately after I finish my BSc in order to qualify for skilled work at a veterinary clinic. This would give me enough points to apply for PR.
Unfortunately, I discovered today that Academy Canada does not offer a Post-Graduate Work Permit upon graduation. Seeing as I will have a recent Bachelors degree from a Canadian university, can I still apply for a work permit after I finish the Vet Assistant program, or will I no longer qualify for it?
My study permit expires in June 2019, and I am past all application deadlines for starting other schools next semester. My only other option would be to apply for school starting January 2020, but I live with my long term Canadian boyfriend and our cat, and I cannot fathom having to move back to my home country withouy them until then.

Any help is tremendously appreciated!

You will not qualify for a PGWP if you complete your studies through Academy Canada since this school does not qualify for a PGWP. You have to apply for the PGWP within 90 days of finishing a qualifying program.

You can always apply for the PGWP now (i.e. once you finish your BA) - this will give you a three year work permit. Depending on how long you have been living with your boyfriend and how serious the relationship is - there may also be an opportunity for him to sponsor you (or for you to live with him a bit longer in order to qualify for common law sponsorship).

My issue with getting my PGWP now is that my degree is in Neuroscience, and it’s very unlikely I would find a full-time skilled job with it. My plan was always to get further certifications that would ensure I find a skilled job in my field, so that I could apply for my PR after a year of work experience.
My boyfriend and I have been living together for 1 year now. We are very serious and he has offered to help in any way he can, but he has a lot going on in his life right now and I wouldn’t want to bestow this headache onto him.
It’s looking more and more like I will have to apply for my PGWP now regardless.
