Deeply frustrated :(
My application didn’t move an inch in the last 1-2 months. They aren’t doing security. Why? I saw this “security not started” thing in so many posts, even with June and July AORs.

If you had this issue and eventually got your PPR, please can you tell me how long after “security not started” info did you get your PPR?

Many thanks

That’s insane! I feel for you. Completely unreasonable!

I hope they are working on your background checks but just forgot to update the status

I don't think you should have a cause for concern yet.
Lately, it seems that they have a lot of backlogs, and some applicants went slightly above the 6 months mark, almost touching the 7 months point.
Many applicants were on "security not started" even slightly after 6 months, but eventually got PPR just a few days later.

Whilst I don’t expect it to make you feel better, I received two responses to CSEs this week. One saying my background check hadn’t started, and another saying my background verifications were in process. MyCIC still says eligibility is being reviewed and background check hasn’t started. I haven’t got an f***ing clue what is going on! AOR 25th July.

Hi @winterdiva
I saw your timeline and mine is similar. AOR July 15. Eligibility 'met', criminality 'passed', and security not started as of January 28 (called ircc). CSE only returns generic answers of 'your application is in progress'.

Do you have any new info on this? I will keep watching this thread

My 6 months is up and security STILL didn't start. The agent told me to call back if I don't get a decision by the end of march. I asked why end of march, and he said that it was some internal procedure based date. Only after that date the agent "can do something". My criminality was passed in Oct and MEP on 4-Nov. My file has just been sitting around since then! Sitting since 4 months!

Does anyone know what this "internal procedure based date" is? That will be 8 months+ AOR!! Ridiculous.

Honestly, I am more intrigued by the "can do something" part. It implies that the IRCC agents can, in fact, take action on the application, which goes against what is told in IRCC website.

Anyway, I have heard others that passed the 6-months mentioning a new due date. And I have seen someone mentioning this "Internal procedure" as a reply for an CSE, and the applicant knew he/she was in security screening... so did you order CBSA? I am trying to figure out if this "security not started" is somehow related to the SS.

From reading this forum, the indication is that the 6 months run time starts from the application R10 completion date and not AOR date.

As per GCMS, my R10 was completed on August 1st, and my Eligibility was 'Met' as of August 19th. So I pretty much passed this threshold as well...

Hang in there as I seen security being completed quickly once started. Also, I've seen quite a few applications getting approved around the 7 month mark. My security was completed the same day it was started but yet my application took 1 full year for DM.

When last did you order GCMS notes?

DM? What is that? Are you inland, because I am FSW-O and I have never heard of this DM step?

Anyway, I have heard that the security might even have started months ago, but the agent did not updated the electronic application. If that is my case, when the agent receives the results, the security will pass from 'not started' to 'passed' (hopefully) quickly.

I think the problem relies on the fact that only security remains, and since early November. It's been 3 months without any update... I could receive the PPR anytime from 'now' to 'next year'.

Yes I am inland. DM = decision made. When was the last time you ordered GCMS notes? Sometimes we have seen when GCMS notes has been ordered and if there is pending updates then the officer sometimes go ahead and make the updates. However, keep in mind that this has not been verified in any way and everything could have been merely being coincidence.

If you have not ordered GCMS notes in a while then I would say to give it a shot if possible.
