Hello all,

I am a us permanent resident and i have petitioned for my wife who currently lives in Nigeria to join me here in the usa. While that is in process. I am planning to have a family vacation with my wife in canada.

My wife will be applying for a trv visa so we can both meet up in canada and enjoy our vacation.

Questions:
1. My wife has no income and is dependent on me. I make above 100k usd anually. Will that be a problem?

2. Does she stand a good chance of securing a canada visa as she has a pending us immigrant visa?

3. What is the best way to go about the application? Any suggestion and advice is welcome.

Unless she has exceptionally strong ties to Nigeria (which does not seem like she does) + good travel history to other visa-required countries + considering the increase in asylum claims from Nigeria.... her TRV application might seem like she wants to wait out the US immigrant visa processing time by staying in Canada

Thank you so much for your response, but I was thinking that the fact she has an immigrant visa pending should point out to the canada officers that she has no incentive to remain in canada as she needs to be in Nigeria to wait for her interview and truly, there is really no reason while she will remain in canada. We are not applying for usa because we already have an immigrant visa pending which makes the issue of non immigrant difficult.

Some of her ties is that she takes care of her aged parents in nigeria. Any suggestion how we will be able to highlight this fact.

Again, thanks for responding. Means so much to me.

That could take as long as 2-3 years.

Your wife (over)staying in Canada would make it easier for you to meet her as compared to Nigeria... if you consider her application from a visa officer's perspective.

Also, your wife is not employed, she is financially dependent on you, not sure if she has any previous travel history, not sure if she owns property/land, etc... would make her seem like a potential overstayer. In other words, she has no reasons to return to Nigeria.

Evidence they live at the same address + your wife is their caregiver especially if they have health issues

Thanks for your response once more, all we want is to actually enjoy our vacation as she really has no reason whatsoever to overstay. She is comfortable in Nigeria and going to Nigeria twice a year is not a problem for me at all. I hope this canada officers would see reasons with me and see our genuine intentions. Thanks once more for your insight.

Evidence with explanations would convince a visa officer. IMO, the odds are against her. Nonetheless, she can certainly apply if you still wish to.... else, you may want to meet up in another country where she is more likely to get a visa

I intend to submit lots of evidence to backup the application. Thanks once more.
