Hi Guys,
I am currently working in Canada on PGWP and i am eligible to apply for PR under the CEC. I got married recently (Dec-2018) and my wife lives in India.
My question is, can i apply for PR for both me and my wife together, with me being the primary applicant and my wife as a dependent? as i currently live in Canada and my wife in India.
If so, where should my wife get her medical done?
Also, where should she send her passport for stamping and get the other formalities such as landing and applying for PR card be done?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi
You can apply pr being primary applicant and your spouse as dependant.
She can get her medical done in India. Check cic website for the places where it can be done. All her formalities will be done in India like visa stamping and then landing and pr card will be done in canada

Hi Pdiwan, Thank you for your response.
During these process at what point can my wife enter Canada? Can she enter Canada after landing? If so, on what basis will she enter the country (eg: Temporary resident, PR holder etc)?
I ask these questions because i was of the impression that one can enter the Country only after getting their PR card, once they are getting through the PR process.

Hi
You can apply for her visitor visa or open work permit in the meantime if you want that. But she will enter Canada on permanent resident visa

She can apply right now for a visitors visa or an open work permit, if you have skilled employment. If she gets temporary authorization and enters Canada before being approved as a PR, she will enter as a temporary resident (worker, visitor, depends on what she applies for)..

I ask these questions because i was of the impression that one can enter the Country only after getting their PR card, once they are getting through the PR process.

No, PR cards are not issued until AFTER landing, so that is not correct. If she is approved as a PR first, she will be issued a "COPR" (Confirmation of permanent residence) and enter as a PR. After landing, it takes several weeks for the PR Card to be issued.

Hi jes_ON,

Thank you for your response.
If my wife is been approved an open work permit before the PR is approved and if she comes to Canada on a temporary resident status, Then in that case where will she has to submit her passport for stamping once she gets the passport request?

Also, I am under the assumption that all my PR related processing (medical, PCC, passport stamping etc) will be done here in Canada in parallel to my wife's PR related processing done in India. Please let me know if my assumption is correct?

Hi
She will submit her passport in Canada thn. You just need to inform VO about her current residence and make a request about it. Also, if you want thn you can raise CSE webform informing about her change of residence

??? At the visa office serving the country of residence. If she comes to Canada, like you, it will be in Canada, of course. That is, assuming you update her address on the PR application like you are supposed to do...

Not really sure what you mean. Yes, you get the medical done here and she gets her medical done there. How you obtain your PCCs are based on the individual country's requirements for whichever ones you need. The actual processing of the application is done in Canada. If she is still living in India at the time processing is complete, her process will be finalized in Inda (passport stamping, COPR).
