Hello!
I was wondering if anyone here has tried to apply for spousal sponsorship before receiving their citizenship certificate?
I'm a Canadian by descent on my mom's side. My brothers have all applied for their Citizenship certificates and received them with no problem - so things should go pretty smoothly and there's no reason I wouldn't be granted citizenship.
I currently live in France and applied for my certificate through the Paris embassy where the person taking my documents said that processing could take up to a year. But we really want to move to Canada as a family and I was wondering if it was possible to start the sponsorship process while they're still processing my citizenship certificate?
Waiting up to 2.5 years for everything to get done and in order seems a bit ridiculous. I'd love to get things rolling, but the Paris embassy doesn't answer phone calls or emails, so I thought I'd ask on this forum if anyone has been in a similar situation??
Thanks!
