Hi all,
Any help is very much appreciated.

I plan to sponsor my spouse this coming fall.
She got a driving prohibition from a roadside stop last summer.

This was a 90 day driving prohibition and there was no criminal charge.

Is this something that will be a problem when it comes to applying for PR in a few months?

Thanks.

What was the driving prohibition for? Speeding? License issues? DUI? Something else? Shouldn't be a problem unless the suspension was due to a DUI.

It was due to a DUI.
It’s on her drivers abstract and not her on criminal record. Do they look at drivers abstract?

What was her BAC? Have you obtained her FBI cert yet?

I’m not sure what the BAC was and no haven’t received an FBI cert. as I said this was not a criminal charge just a driving prohibition so I don’t think she will receive anything from the FBI

BAC = blood alcohol content.

If it was a DUI, it should show up on her FBI cert.

If her BAC was under 0.08, then she is OK. Or if she was caught drinking and driving but the charge was reduced on the spot - then she is OK as well. If it was 0.08 or over, and was recorded as such, you should expect this to show up on her FBI cert and this will render her inadmissible to Canada for a period of five years. Find out her BAC and order the FBI cert. as soon as you can to see what shows up there.

And just to be clear, she needs to obtain an FBI cert as part of the process of immigrating to Canada. So that is in fact something she will have to request and receive. I would do that now so that you can see if it's clean or there's something there related to the DUI.

What was the exact reason given for the license suspension?
