Message: We started processing your file on July 12

Since then no change

MyCiC info:
We are reviewing wheather you meet the eligibility requirements.
You passed the medical exam.
We are reviewing the additional documents you provided.
You dont need an interview. We will send you a message...
We don't need your fingerprints...
We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if need more information.
Your application is in progress. We'll send you a message once the final decision has been made.

I was wondering when to expect DM or PPR??

ecas will not show bgc, bgc has no timelines like when they will start. they can start bgc anytime bcz 3rd party conducts bgc. so it can start at any stage
JOTSsran BGC I saw starts at IP2 STAGE not anytime.
IP2: BG status message in this stage will be “We are processing your background check. we will send you a message if we need more information.“. Visa Officer starts reviewing or after reviewing all agents recommendations. On the same day, PPR request will be triggered if the applicant paid RPRF up front. But for outland PPR may not trigger as quick.
this is the sequence I found all can only be seen in GCMS notes:-
  1. BG Check: Not Applicable (NA1)
  2. Medical passed – (MEP)
  3. BG Check In Progress (IP1) – R10 check is done here.
  4. BG Check: Not Applicable (NA2) – Eligibility check is done here.
  5. BG Check: In Progress (IP2) –
  6. BG Check: Not Applicable (NA3) – Sometimes this doesn’t come
  7. PPR: Passport Request
  8. CoPR: Confirmation of Permanent Residence
AOR – NA1 – MEP – IP1 – NA2 – IP2 – NA3(not always) – PPR – CoPR
Generally messages will be like below in IP2 status:

NA3: “Not applicable“. This will signify that IP2 is completed. This status is not visible in many cases and direct PPR request is placed from IP2.

PPR: Passport Request. You will get an email for that and you may not get an update in your CIC account for this.
PPR mails these days are taking 7 days to 3 months (depends how fast is BGC done, major delay in this is SECURITY at the end) after you are in IP2 stage.

The Criminality & Security Checks;--
I found Criminality check comes 1st and is done for both parties. Final check is SECURITY BEFORE PPR.

This is a serious & time-consuming stage, involving many agencies, including CSIS, Interpol, NASC, Database Checking & touch-base with Local Police. Many things are considered here... the No. of countries visited, Applicant coming from 'certain' countries, ex-Servicemen [including Law Enforcement services], Prolonged stay in a country w/out sufficient docs to prove cause, frequent traveling to certain nations, your *Name (?), Inter-Religion/Nationality Marriages etc.

If everything is simple & straight, the file soon gets into the 'final review' stage. If there are any 'red flags', our case goes into a 'spin'. usually this stage should be over by 5 months max. However, a point to be noted is that we can also be called for an Interview [at this stage], due to this reason.

If everything is simple & straight, the file soon gets into the 'final review' stage. If there are any 'red flags', our case goes into a 'spin'. Then our file might go to the local Police/CID agencies; the outcome/time frame of which is beyond the control of CIC. And thereby the time frame can be anything [sometimes beyond 1year ]. But, usually this stage should be over by 5 months max. However, a point to be noted is that we can also be called for an Interview [at this stage], due to this reason.
I know someone and in some comments, i saw, same day bgc started and same day ppr. So it means they completed the bgc in a half day? Once processing of file starts, bgc starts right away in some cases, my friend's case it was started before even aor1, for myself it has not been started yet. So every case is different. That's what i said earlier. They don't have a specific timelines for bgc, when it will start and when it ends. :)

YOU are right agent told me even if they do start BGC they do not update on gckeys. But as we see a Background check can take 1 week to 3-4 months , out of which IRCC depends on few Agencies which are not in their controls. Agency can send BGC in 24 hours within Canada while in VOs looks like it takes more. An innocent person with no records may have to wait 2-3 months on this Security check on account of DOB, LAST NAMES, and things matching. Take care :)
