Friends, I'm planning to come to Canada on a visiting visa. I'm a experienced drilling Supervisor. Is it hard to find oil jobs there?! Because I heard that oil jobs are in demand; and also there is a shortage of professional oil workforce. Any help would be appreciated.

Extremely difficult to find a job in drilling in Canada. It’s expected to be a rather dismal drilling season. There are currently loads of unemployed drilling professionals in Canada, so your chances of employment are zero.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I didn't get it, you mean that drilling jobs are seasonal in Canada so this season is not good time for finding job or there are not so many jobs in drilling field? Thanks in advance

There are not that many jobs in the field. It's not a seasonal thing.

The industry lost about 25% of jobs four years ago when oil prices dropped. It hasn't recovered since.

And we are seeing another drop in drilling activity due to recent government announcements. There will be more than a few resident drilling professionals waiting for a call to go back to work this winter. You should expect your chances of being hired on before them will be non-existent. Working rigs in Canada as of today stands at 124 out of 593 available.
