Hi there,

I recently got denied "spousal sponsorship" due to lico requirements, I have to put forth a new application once I can provide my "notice of assessment" that I earned enough money (had 2 jobs in 2018 - should now meet lico requirements), I will put in my application in 2019, can I use my notice of assessment from 2018?? or will they go back to 2017/2016...let me kno :) thx :)

If you made enough money in 2018, you can apply.

Minimum Necessary Income requirement for sponsors of parents and grandparents
If you are sponsoring a parent or a grandparent, you must meet the minimum necessary income requirement for each of the three taxation years immediately preceding the date of your application. The minimum necessary income requirement is equal to the Low Income Cut-offs (LICOs) plus 30%, taking into account the number of family members for whom you are or will be financially responsible.

2018, 2017, 2016

OP isn't asking about parent/grandparent sponsorship. OP is asking about spousal sponsorship where the applicant's dependent has a child of their own. Different LICO rules than parent/grandparent sponsorship.

Yes...I’m talking about sponsorship for spousal with dependent who has dependent...I guess I would follow the table in which falls under the IMM1283, however I was reading something about plus 30%, does that apply to me?

Note: In most cases, there is no low-income-cut-off (LICO) for spouse, partner or dependent child sponsorships. However, if either a spouse or partner you’re sponsoring has as dependent child who has dependent children of their own, or a dependent child you are sponsoring has a dependent child of their own, you must meet a minimum LICO score, which is determined by the Canadian government each year.

Hi Canuck,
Hoping you can me now - CBSA is now deporting my husband back to his homeland country, he is leaving January 23... they have advised us to re-apply once he arrives, but also mentioned to us we need àn authorization of re-entry, is that something I need to send in with my application? and about LICO again...I havent seen the 2019 requirements yet, however I should definitely surpass the requirements...but will they be asking me for my previous years or just the 1 year previous to my application...let me know at your earliest...thx :)

If he is being deported, then yes, he will need an ARC.

LICO doesn't apply to spousal sponsorship.

Yes, LICO applies to my husband sponsorship as he has a dependant who has a dependant, that why my first sponsorship failed...thats why I wanted to kno whether they will be going back 3 years...
