Hi i am Feb 21 applicant and here is my time line
PA-14th DEC
SA-18th DEC
Both side DM on ECAS- 14th Dec

After that i didn't hear anything from CIC

I want to go out for Xmas vacation with my wife and i have valid work permit and TRV.
Will there be any issue if i travel before landing interview ?
or if i receive my landing interview while i am outside Canada ,can i land at international border?
Depending on the IRCC office and how busy they are, the landing interview can be scheduled within weeks to a month. I personally would not take the chance...i am very cautious about such things especially when you are so close to the finishing line!
Also, no....if you have applied inland....the landing interview has to be inside Canada.

I will landing in Vancouver office too! My background is kinda simple too. Before came to here last June , always lived in my city in China. Maybe we are the same VO, and he started his holiday already , I also got DM on SA side too ! Same day my husband received SA email.
Guys I think the background check is not related with if it is simple or not. It is done by a third party, so the time it takes is up to the company from your home country. That is my guess!

Hi,

Submitted the PR+OWP application in October 2018. Curious to find out if the medical will be requested before processing both for PR and OWP applications? Any idea on the average timeline for OWP processing? Thanks!
Medical Requests for october applicants are coming before OWP.

Congrats to all those receiving DM!

Here's my situation:

March 26th Applicant
OWP Received in July
Passed Medical
Background Check currently 'In Progress'

Today I received an email from mycic with a letter requesting a Police Clearance Certificate from the RCMP.
When I submitted the original application, I provided this Police Clearance upfront, so I already have a clearance dated from February 2018. I have since moved to a new address from when I submitted the original Police Checks which I assume is why they are asking for a new check.

The problem is, I am currently outside of Canada visiting family due to a seriously ill family member (my mother), so I cannot get the new police check completed in person until I am back in Canada.

They have given me one month to complete the police certificate, so I need to get this into IRCC by January 17th, 2019. My intention was to stay with my partner and family out of Canada until the 1st of February, 2019.

Here is my question, do you think it is better for me to cut the trip short and get back to Canada so I can provide this new police certificate within the time frame they have requested?

Or, do you think it would be okay to ask for an extension of this document via mycic so I can spend more time with my family during a very difficult period?

I am concerned about asking for the extension since I know it is already a risk to leave Canada while the In-land PR app is being processed, so I don't want to draw extra attention to that and jeopardize the application. However, I was wondering if other applicants have asked for a similar extension with no issues, or, considering the circumstances, if this would be a reasonable extension to ask for?

Lastly, since I already completed the police check with the RCMP in February, would it be possible to send the original police check and fingerprints since technically I have already submitted that document? Or will the change in address since then make that original check void?

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks very much!
Send a new police check, they dont ask it upfront because they want it to be max 6 months old.

For the other question i dont know anyone in the same situation but i would not stay outside for more than a month with an inland applicantion being processed, unless I prefer to stay with my mom no matter what happens with my application.

Please help me out!
I've already received DM on both sides yesterday. My working visa expires on Feb 19. Do I still need to submit an application to extend my working visa or just wait for the interview appointment. Thank you!

You don't need to extend your work permit. You have two months to land - it is highly unlikely that it will take more than two months for the appointment to be scheduled given that you have your DM.

You would not have problem going out for a short vacation with WP and TRV, the only issue would be if the agent is grumpy enough to not let you in. However, if you take the risk (which I think is low) it is better doing it before landing than after landing without PR card.

For the second question. If you are inland applicantion your landing interview will be in a IRCC's office.

Thank you for your response. How long after DM does it take for appointment?
It depends on the office. It can be from a day or two to several weeks. In my case I got the appointment a day before I got the DM, lol. It's really difficult to say, but you're in the home stretch now.

Hi, all inland application must have the landing interview? And about the appointment, is that set by CIC or we have to book with the local CIC office?

Hi, all inland application must have the landing interview? And about the appointment, is that set by CIC or we have to book with the local CIC office?
The wording is confusing so to clear it up: landing interview and landing appointment are usually used interchangeably. They're one in the same and they're not an actual interview in a private room where an officer tries to see if a relationship is genuine.

The landing interview/appointment is scheduled by the CIC. You're sent an email that tells you the time and place to go to and the things you need to bring. These are usually two photos, your passport, proof of fee payment, proof of current status (work permit, study permit, whatever - if anything - you have). The interview/appointment consists of a couple of technical questions that everyone gets and you're done in 5-10 minutes.

If they're concerned about the actual genuine nature of your relationship, they will actually ask you to bring relationship proof with you (correspondence, more photos, more proof of joint address, etc). If they don't ask for anything like this, then it's just the normal 5 minute appointment.

The vast majority of cases do not require an interview that determines the genuine nature of the relationship.
