Hi Legalfalcon,

Hope you are doing good. I have a quick question regarding the photos for PR Card. I got MY COPR on October 18, 2018, and yesterday I received a below letter from the IRCC asking to resubmit the photos.

I remember, the first time I got my photos done, I took the specification sheet and my photographer did the same size and with the same specification as it was mentioned in the sheet. I also checked the measurement with the ruler. I am not sure why it was rejected. Is it because during my landing interview the lady officer only took one pic from me?

Also, in case if this time also it does not meet specification, what likely they will do? Will they reject my application? Or they will come back asking for photos again?

Thank you,

This letter is to inform you that your photo submission has been received by our office. The photos submitted to this office do not meet the required specifications. Your Permanent Resident (PR) Card cannot be issued without a compliant/acceptable photo.

You must send:
Two (2) new photos that meet the specifications set out in the attached document.
If we do not receive the requested information within 30 days of the date above, your application for a permanent resident card will be considered cancelled.
Please note that a valid Canadian address is necessary for us to be able to send you your Permanent Resident Card.
Please return this letter and photos by mail to:
Case Processing Center - Permanent Resident Card
PO Box 4500
Sydney, Nova Scotia B1P 6L1
The pictures are rejected not because they are not as per specifications, but because the print quality of them was not at par for their scanners to pick it up for being printed on a PR card.

If the pics you re-submit, are still not fine, they will again ask for new ones.

Just as an advise, try and get your pics as per specifications, but for the print, chose matte, instead of glossy finish.

I have got my bank statements and balance certificate today from the bank. It would still take my approx 10-12 days to submit my application. So, does having statements 2 weeks old be an issue or shall i get them re-issued 2-3 days before submitting application?
2-3 weeks is just fine. Anything that is not over a months old for bank statement will work just fine.

Thank you sir. So if I am using my spouse's solo bank account as PoF, do i need to provide any gift deed or affidavit stating i have access to funds of my wife?
If you are the primary applicant, you need an affidavit from your spouse stating that the spouse has no objecting in your using the funds for the purpose of settlement.

Hi Legalfalcon,

I submitted my application on Nov 14. I have a doubt regarding work experience letter:
My company has policy that managers or HR cannot provide employment verification letter with all the details that CIC need. They can only provide a letter on blank paper (no letterhead), detailing job duties. The employment verification is provided via a document from theworknumber.com. Interested parties can also visit the website to verify the details. So I uploaded the following in a single doc:
1. A letter explaining the above.
2. Job duties letter from manager, signed by her, along with her contact info
3. Verification letter from theworknumber.com: It has employment status (Active), length of employment, job title, biweekly pay, number of hours per week, start date, total income earned per year for last 4 years and a footnote saying this document is electronically approved by the employer.
4. Original job offer letter - its on company letter head
5. Promotion letter - it is also on letterhead. It has my current annual salary
6. 2 most recent pay slips

What are the chances of my application getting rejected? Any ideas? I am nervous about this, but have no other options. In case you want to take a look at my letter, PM me how I should send it.
Hey did you work for Target? I am in the same delimma.. my manager agreed to sign the letter I just don't know if I should have him sign the whole letter containing all the information or just containing the job description. what did you do?

Dear @legalfalcon, I would appreciate if you will help me with the inside to my GCSM notes, I'm confused for what is it review required.. :(

As per notes, Eligibility is recommend passed, criminality in progress since July 18th and background check not started.
I'm a PA and I have one dependent, my husband. He got study permit refusal in summer and the reason for it was 'limited career opportunities in the country of a residence'. We got married 4 months later, applied for a spousal work permit and it was granted. Now he's here with me in Canada.
We applied for PR on July 4th, on July 18th medical was passed and IRCC requested schedule A for him for a certain period (military service) - we provided the full signed form and military discharge document within 7 days timeframe. For me, criminality is recommend pass, for my husband is review required, even though it's written NRT.

Please see the image attached. Are we in review required for visa refusal or for a military document? Is there anything we can provide to IRCC or it's okay to just wait? Your insight will be highly appreciated!

We cannot understand especially the line 'documents set to review'. And what makes me wonder, they mentioned 'to address the gap' but there were no gaps in personal history/address history :(

@legalfalcon is it possible for someone to have both eligibility and security both in progress? This was informed to me last month when I called CIC. I tried to post and ask in many forums but could not find appropriate response probably since no one is having a case similar to mine. As far as I know security check starts only after eligibility is met. In my case gcms notes recd on 2nd Nov shows review required for funds. Can you pls share your views on this?

@legalfalcon,

I am from India, I have submitted by application with all documents on 4th December, I have submitted employment documents on my employers letter head, and all other documents post review of visa agent. I have never travelled abroad so I don't have any travel history also I am single. As per you in my case how much time it will take to get reply from CIC, and is there any way to escalate the process to get it fast.

Also is it right time now to apply for GCMS notes.

You need to wait for your GCMS notes and see the reason. Anything else is just speculation.
Hi @legalfalcon received my notes and case processing officer is not satisfied with both my reference lettes as the duties and responsibilities not matching the NOC I applied under, and also he has not made any remarks for any other criteria like IELTS, Age, Education, PCC etc.
What do u suggest I should do? Can I send revised reference letters?

Hi @legalfalcon
I have a question about experience letters. I used to work for a pharmacy for about 2 years and it currently does not exist because it ran out of business in 2015. I was able to get in contact with my manager at the time but he does not have a list of the job duties. and he is not willing to look for them or write them for me, instead he says I can write them myself based on the tasks that I used to do and he will sign off on them for me. I am wondering is this okay to do? or will this be considered misrepresentation?
Thank you for your help.

Dear @legalfalcon, I would really appreciate your help...
I know you get a lot of requests from all over, but I really hope you have the time to help me out. I tried finding an answer online, but I haven't encounter a similar situation.

I am a September AOR and I got an ADR in my account on Saturday. Unfortunately I wasn't aware that there is an official process to renounce a permanent resident status, as I would have done it by now. It's not an excuse, however I need to address this issue so that my application would move forward. I had obtain a PR in 2005 but for personal reasons I didn't met my residency obligations being outside Canada for a long period of time. Since I was sure my previous PR status is no longer available, I have decided (now that I am older and wiser) to formally apply again under FSW. As additional docs I submitted my previous expired PR card, record of landing and provided a LOE about the situation. I am a single applicant with one dependent -my son.

The ADR refers to this situation and I was given 2 choises:
1. to apply for a travel document -Permanent Resident Abroad (which for sure is not an option, giving I didn't met my residency obligations and having a child now that has no legal status in Canada)
2. to give up (renounce) my Canadian permanent resident status and if my voluntary renunciation of permanent resident status is approved, IRCC will proceed with processing my current permanent residence application I have already submitted.

Quote from the letter:
- If you would like to give up (renounce) your Canadian permanent resident status, you must fill out and submit the Voluntary Renunciation of Permanent Resident Status application. You will find the Application to Voluntarily Renounce Permanent Resident Status form on our
website at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5781ETOC.asp.
Actual link to the form: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5782E.pdf
It is important that you print, complete, and sign your Application to Voluntarily Renounce Permanent Resident Status and submit it following the instructions provided online. If your voluntary renunciation of permanent resident status is approved, we will proceed with processing
your current permanent residence application you have already submitted.

But I am confused how to proceed. I should upload just upload the IMM5782 form on my profile, or should I follow the instructions
given by Guide 5781 – Applying to Voluntarily Renounce Your Permanent Resident Status -( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5781ETOC.asp?countrySelect=RO#document ) where it states that I should send by mail a complete application with all supporting documentation (2 photos, copy of my current Passport, plus a document checklist) to the Canadian visa office responsible for my country of citizenship. By mail, when my deadline for submitting the ADR is December 17, a week from now.

Common sense tells me that I just have to upload the IMM5782 form (or the whole application package?) in my account but I don't want to make a mistake since my application might be rejected in case I don't do everything as I'm supposed to. In the letter it's stated to follow the instructions provided online. Online by Guide 5781 – Applying to Voluntarily Renounce Your Permanent Resident Status, hence mailing by post the application to my area Canadian visa office or just according to profile - to submit by December 17.

This issue might be straightforward but I just need to be sure. I look forward to your reply. Any other input is very much appreciated. Thank you
