So I got into a situation that gives me a lot of frustrations and idk what should I do.
So I’m still a high school student (under 18). Back then I was expelled in the school for possessing marijuana while underage. However since it was almost the end of the school year, they decided to give me full credits of all courses and said that they won’t put charge on me or give me a record on my transcript, but I can no longer study in the same program, and if anyone contact the school board, they will have to honestly tell why.
Now, Im studying at another program, I realize that I have to extend my visa and study permit. So I’m scared that I dont know what to do: If they ask if I have ever committed a crime do I must answer yes? And should I upload both transcripts ( old + new programs)? Do I have to do any extra work when doing the application? And are my chances of failing for extension much higher than others?
Idk if this help, but I’ve been a decent student throughout the programs (High A’s, No skipping, volunteering, etc.)

You were never charged for a crime so how can you say yes. Also except Ontario most provinces fine underage possession. You have been given a very lucky break by the school. Don't talk about it, don't mention it to anyone.

Do you know how many people drink and smoke underage. By that logic probably almost everyone is a criminal. Relax and just apply for your extension as normal. You changed you're program and you need an extraction for your study permit. Take this as a valuable life lesson and just wait for one or two years before blazing again.

Yes. I have learned that lesson in a really hardway.
But out of curiosity, why would Ontario is the exepction of underage possession?

Basically, for underage possession, Ontario can charge you under the Youth Criminal Justice Act for possession of more than 5 grams. All other provinces hand out fines with Newfoundland only giving a fine of 100 CAD.

Technically speaking Alberta also can hand out a 3-month prison sentence but they can give a fine of up to 5000 CAD.

If you get into prison you can see a lot of doors slam right shut on your face, however unfair it may be that's the reality. Toe the line till your legal and enjoy.

I see. So then I should be able to apply for extension of my visa and SP without any problem?
