Couldn’t you applied for urgent processing now that they return your application with a copy of your ticket and explaining how your application was returned you never know unless you try.
Well I sent it back under urgent but not sure if they will process it at so. I figure at this point I have nothing to lose.
Does anyone know how long urgent applications usually take?

Based on what i have read through the entire thread, they process it immediately and it takes around a month or less to receive it.

For those whose PR card renewal applications were returned due to some basic errors with the accompanying letter asking to correct and send back with the letter included (e.g.due incorrect photographs or missing date or signature etc, returned BEFORE the file was created, not due to additional information request while in processing). How long did it take for your corrected application to begin processing after you re-sent it?

My dad's application was returned (after 3 months waiting in line) due to the fact that we missed to fill in date on the last page (under the signature - stupid mistake, have no idea how I missed that :-( ) They highlited the area and asked to send it back including the letter they sent to us and the courier address PO box number was different than for the original application address. I was secretly hoping that maybe they have a separate queue for such corrected application and they will not have to wait another three months - but so far it has been almost two months and nothing :-(
I guess even if they go into a separate "pile" that pile might sill be quite thick :-(

If anyone could share their timeline with the corrected application that would be appreciated!

I went through something similar. I had mailed my application in June & it was returned in September saying that the photos I had sent did not match the PR photo specifications. I resent my application in mid of September. By Nov 30, ECAS showed that my card has been mailed.
Unfortunately, there is no special queue for resent applications. We still have to join the same queue.

I wish there was a system in which IRCC double checks the documents they receive & make sure that everything is in order the moment they receive it, instead of checking it after 3 months.

I experienced it first hand. The whole process is started from square one again. No special line for the resent application. it will take another 3 months.

Yes, this is so annoying that they do not check at least for some basic completeness things until 3 months later. And even more annoying is the fact that they actually seem to open the applications - my dad's returned application had a stamp "Received July 20" (I sent it by courier on July 18). So I wonder if they open, put a received date stamp on it and then it just waits... I wish they did some basic check right at that time - would save people so much time.

True. Not much we can do at this point except to hope for the best.

I have been checking ecas everyday; status changed to complete this morning! I am so relieved. I wish everyone good luck with their wait.

  1. We received your application for a permanent resident card on September 7, 2018.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on November 14, 2018.
  3. We started processing your application on November 14, 2018.
  4. Your Permanent Resident card was sent by mail on November 27, 2018.
I just received my card in the mail today! The design is slightly different from my old card. The photo is much bigger, maybe that's why they have been strict about photo requirements. Another new thing is that they sent me a "travel journal" for me to keep track of my travel dates for citizenship application. I will probably apply for citizenship next year, so hopefully I won't have to apply for a PRC again. Thank you again everyone on this thread. You have kept me sane in the last few months.

Congrats on receiving your PR card. The journey for PRC ends & hopefully your journey for citizenship next year begins. Good luck & all the best.
