Hello,

I have combed this site thoroughly and only found info on how to bring SPOUSES to Canada, and conjugal isn't exactly clear. I want to clear up that I am an eligible sponsor. We are both 25.

Let me explain, I met a girl online (Chile) and have been head over heels for her for a few months and we have been video calling 2 hrs daily for a while. I want to go visit her in April for 2 or 3 weeks, and if all goes well the plan is that I invite her to Canada and live with me. Crazy I know... I never thought I'd be in this position.

I know she can come in on a 90 day visa, but what are my options besides sponsorship here? Ideally I just want her to apply for a year or so then maybe apply as in-land commonlaw (how can you even apply for a visa or common-law if she doesn't already live here anyway??)

I make about 65k a year, but we are both young and have around 30k of student debt and not much assets..

I don't want to marry her, but is that seriously my only option? I can't be the first one to go through this..

You can try the visitor visa route but it is nearly impossible to get approved for it, seems like a lottery, you may get lucky.
I would say visit her a few times over a year and see if she is the right person for you, marriage may the be a good option.
Does she plan on studying, she could try that route?

For common law, you do have to be living together as common law for x amount of time, for example, if you would go to chile to live with her for example...

Hope that helps
I married my husband 3 months after we’ve met. We wanted to be together so bad ;) and we only sent his application like 8 months later.
He has been here 11 months in Canada so far we are doing great, i just gave birth to our daughter about a week and a half ago.

Good luck!
