Passport lost while waiting for Visa decision

Hi, I need help!....one of my friend lives In canada, she applied for her mother visitor Visa, but unfortunately her mother lost the passport. The thing is even though embassy ask for their passport to stamp . But now they don't know what to do.

Can anybody have some accurate information, about what to do now.

Her mother must follow the due process for reporting the loss of the passport to the local police + the passport authorities of her home country + to IRCC/her local visa office.

Maybe IRCC will consider extending the 30 days passport submission deadline in this case if evidence is provided

Thanks. Ya they actually have done police verification and probably soon they will get new passport. But the question is- does Canadian embassy in New Delhi will accept new passport on behalf of the previous passport application.

Yes.

Her mom must email a copy of the police report + affidavit + newspaper advertisement + application for the new passport.... to the local visa office
