Most straight forward Outland Spousal Sponsorship follow these process steps (the order of the steps may vary)
  1. Application received at IRCC
  2. IRCC start processing application
  3. Receive Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR 1)
  4. Link Application to Online Account
  5. Sponsor Approval and File transfer to VO
  6. VO starts processing PR application (AOR 2)
  7. Receive Request for Medical Exam
  8. Medical Exam @ IRCC Panel Physician Clinic
  9. Medical Exam Result
  10. Passport Request (PPR)
  11. Pick-up Permanent Residency Visa (PUM)
Spousal sponsorship process completion time varies depending on the Visa Office and on a case basis.......will advice you assume process completion takes 12 months to help reduce the waiting stress.......relax.....its a wait game. [/URL]

When it gets transferred to a vo is that in the applicants country or in Canada?

Spousal sponsorship is on a case basis.......assume process completion takes 12 months to help reduce the waiting stress....the 12 months processing time starts on the AOR date.

Hello,

Does anyone know if the PR applicant can travel out of their country while the Permanent Resident application is still processing, presumably the final stages?

Thanks in advance

Yes they can

The 12 months processing time starts the month they received your application or the month you received AOR? Thank you!
12 month processing time starts when they receive your application regardless of the AOR1.

This is wrong. AOR1 can take 3 to 4 months after receiving the application. Processing of application starts from the time they receive application.

Right here it states that the processing time starts when they receive an application in their mailroom, as long as it is a complete application. If incomplete, they might return it and the processing time in that case will start when they receive it the 2nd time.

Counting from AOR1 would be really unfair. Waiting to be with your loved one is hard enough as it is!

It doesn't say that the 12 months mark start from the time they OPEN our file. Does it?
12 month mark is from the received DATE STAMP on the envelop , if I am not wrong

It is simply the date when your package is delivered to their Mississauga/Sydney office. Some people in this forum say things without any knowledge and with the confidence that leads to be miss information.
