Hey guys,

I got a permanent job offer in Ontario this week but have only 11 months left on my work permit (it took a month to find this job). So my question is

1. Can I apply for bridging work permit and work in it for 1 month, so as to get 1 year work experience (total 12 months) for PR?

2. When should I apply for bridging work permit?

Any help is kindly appreciated. Thanks.

1. No - you cannot apply for a bridging open work permit for these reasons. To qualify for a BOWP, you must have already applied for PR and your application must have been accepted by IRCC.

2. See above.

No, unfortunately you will not meet the minimum requirements to apply for PR by the time your permit expires. You should look at getting an LMIA through your employer.

Thanks for your reply. Does that mean I can apply for a PR now?

You can certainly apply if you qualify. CEC is not an option for you at this time since you don't have the required work experience in Canada. Express Entry could be an option if you can store 440 or more points. Have you calculated how many points you have under EE?
