Hello I need help, I have been a permanent resident of Canada for 15 years now. I came with my family when I was 14. In 2017 I travelled to my home country with my pr and country passport. Now I want to apply for my Canadian citizenship but someone is telling me that if I apply for my citizenship they might revoke my status in Canada because I travelled with my home passport and Pr card. It was my first time leaving the country.

Did you get your PR as a refugee? If you did it could be a problem. If you didn’t get your PR as a refugee, it isn’t a problem.

All you can do now is hope they don’t pursue vacation of your status for reavailment when you apply for citizenship or a new PR card. As a refugee, don’t use your home country passport or travel there. It can cause endless issues later on.

Honestly this is driving me crazy. I'm going in to depression because of this. I don't know what to do. Canada is the only place I know as a home.

Why did you return to your country and for how long?
Did you use your country's passport to travel? If so, why did you renew it?
Given that you came in via your parents, a long time ago, as a minor, and had no choice, you may have less of a problem than you think.

I returned for 30 days. I went there because I reconnected with a childhood friend on Facebook.
