Hello friends,

I would like to get your advice on the education category. I graduated with a Bachelor degree in Commerce from an Australian University (3 years - programs). Now, if i decide to study in Canada for 1- year post graduate certificate, can I claim CRS point for both below categories in education:
  • Earn an Canadian degree
  • Two or more certificates diplomas or degrees

If this is possible, my CRS can be highly improved with only 1-year program.

Many thanks in advance

Hello,

From what I understand is that you need to finish the studies before claiming the points. You would have to get it evaluated from WES and then you can calculate the points from it.

Please be aware that I had Bachelors of Commerce of 3 years from India and Master Of Commerce of 2 years from India and WES evaluated my degrees as *double bachelors* meaning Two or more certificates with one program for more than 3 years.

Whereas WES USA gave me evaluation as master's degree equivalency.

Thanks for your comment. Sure that I will need WES evaluate my bachelor degree in Australian. But if I complete 1-year certificate in Canada, do I need the evaluation from WES for it? And then can I select for the option of "Earned a Canadian Degree" as well as "Two or more certificates with one program for more than 3 years" in Express entry profile?

If you finish your education from Canada, you do not need to evaluate from WES and to choose a Canadian degree, the program has to be of a certain length. I believe, if you finish 4 years of education, you'd only be awarded bachelor's degree. However, if you finish 2 years of education, you'd be awarded Two or more certificates.

"Earned a Canadian Degree":- Yes, you can and you'd have to provide the details of your studies, but then I believe, that your file would go for CEC rather than EE.

Oh, I see.
Just one more concern, If my bachelor degree evaluated as a 3-year program in Canada, and I go to Canada to complete one more 1-year post graduate certificate. Am I eligible for "Two or more certificates with one program for more than 3 years"

In addition, CEC will require me 1 year experience in Canada while I have already had 3 year foreign experience in NOC A & B. I intend to submit Express Entry profile under Federal Skill Worker program

Am I eligible for "Two or more certificates with one program for more than 3 years:- I am afraid that'd be decided by WES, depending upon the courses you took in these 4 years and if it covers the total syllabus of Canadian school's 2 degree courses.

As far as my knowledge goes, and I hope I am wrong, you'd be given bachelors degree since the total education would be of 16 years instead of 17.

In addition, CEC will require me 1 year experience in Canada while I have already had 3 year foreign experience in NOC A & B. I intend to submit Express Entry profile under Federal Skill Worker program:- That is your decision, if you wish to choose EE or CEC. But I guess, EE would be fast paced.
