Hi,

I am from Sweden and have been living in common law relationship with a Canadian since 2006. We now have a daughter who is born in Sweden. Is there any way our daugther and myself can apply for dual citizenship? What needs to happen in order for us to be able to get that? We are currently living in Sweden.
Regards, H

Your daughter may already be a Canadian citizen depending on how/when your partner acquired citizenship. If they were born in Canada then there's a good chance your daughter has acquired citizenship.

For you, the only path to citizenship is first getting sponsored for permanent residency by your partner, then living for 3 years out of previous 5 in Canada to become eligible to apply for citizenship. This would mean moving to Canada (afaik)

Thank you for your reply.
Yes my partner was born in Canada and moved to Sweden to live with me 12 years ago. 6 years ago we had our daughter so she’s born in Sweden
