Hi Guys,

New to the forum and was looking for some information. I’m a Canadian citizen and I am in the process of sponsoring my wife who has no status currently. The inland application was sent in May and in August we got email saying they have received the application. Couple questions I have is: how long it will take to get an answer?, is there any way to get a permit so she can work while we are waiting for an answer?

Thanks!

If she's out of status, she is ineligible for an open work permit. There may also be a longer processing time for your application.

If she gets AIP (approval in principle), that’s the only time she can apply for OWP. But it’s almost near the end of the sponsorship process. Some just wait it out until they get their PRs.
