Hey guys,
Sorry for the long post.

Is anyone in similar situations as me? I'm the PA. May applicant, medical passed. On September 18th CIC sent email confirmation that my file has been transferred to New Delhi visa office. But, I'm not currently residing in India. So I'm confused now. Shouldn't the visa office be the country where you are residing currently?

I don't understand how this would work. If in case they need to interview me or when they would request the Passport, would I have to fly to India?

Peace of advice would be really appreciated.
Does anyone have idea what would happen or should I contact CIC about my situation?

I also don't understand why would they transfer my file to India if I'm not residing there.

Thanks in advance.

I remember reading that IRCC transfers files around its global network of visa offices based on workload. Normally, most inland applications will likely be dealt with in Canada, but they do definitely move the applications around if they need to.

If you require an interview, it’ll be in Canada if you’ve filed an inland application. I dont think this scenario is anything abnormal, and I wouldn’t be concerned. Good luck.

1887 CAN: Thank you for taking time to reply. I really appreciate it. My application is an Outland application and I'm not residing in Canada. That's what concern me.

So if I'm neither residing in Canada nor India, would my file be eventually transfer to the county where I'm currently residing?

Thanks again

My apologies, I thought you were in Canada...

Either way, the same process of transferring files around visa offices applies inland or outland.

Are you an Indian national? I’d assume so based on the file being transferred to an India visa office. My understanding is that sometimes for ouland applications, the visa office could be the country you’re residing in, the country of which you hold nationality, and of course any of the visa offices within Canada if it’s an inland application.

If you’re required to attend an interview, it’ll be in the country of which you declared you’re residing in on your application. I’ve not heard of any examples of applicants being made to fly to attend interviews. Maybe someone else on here has, but I certainly haven’t.

The one exception to this would be if you’re a foreign national residing in Canada, and you choose to file an outland application in your home country. People sometimes do this as the processing times can be faster this way. IRCC does make it clear on the application forms that if you do require an interview, it could be at a visa office in your home country, and of course that would require to make your own way back there.

Please don't apologize, I should have been more clear to begin with.

Again big thanks. You advice does make things lot clear.

Now, I hope my file would get eventually transfer to the visa office where am I currently residing.

If not then it would be really hard and inconvenient if I would have to fly all the way to India to submit my passport when I get the request or for any other reasons. I hope I would not have to.

I’m almost certain there’s no way you’d be made to fly to another country to submit your passport/attend an interview. Either of those things would be carried out in the country you’re residing in. The moving of your file around visa offices shouldn’t have any bearing on that.

Someone else may be able to provide further advice, but I’ve never heard of anyone being made to travel for IRCC interviews, except for the example I mentioned in my other reply. If there was any risk of applicants having to travel elsewhere for interviews, etc, the guides and application forms would surely tell you.

Well, I hope they won't made me travel. I don't see any reason if they would want me to; I'm an Outland applicant and I've mention in my application that I'm residing in a country other than my country of nationality.

So, I hope they just transfer my file to India as part of there process and my file would get transfer to my country of residence (not India).

I'll wait and see what happens. If anything unusual, I'll contact IRCC.

Again thank you very much for all the golden advice.

You’re welcome.

Personally, I don’t think you’ll be needing to travel. It would be highly unusual. Sit back and wait for IRCC to do their processing, and call the call centre/send a case specific enquiry if you have any further queries. Good luck.

I think it is based on which country you are currently live. In my case, I don't live in Canada or my home country. My file stays in CPC-M, because CPC-M processes applications from my residing country. Unless it is a complicated case, the file will be transferred to a different visa office.

Hey,

My file was in CPC-M before 18 September and then got transferred to New Delhi. And same here I don't live in neither Canada nor my home country (India). So, I'd assume that it has something to do with their processe and it will come to me eventually.

Thank you for taking time to reply. Really appreciate it.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'it will come to me eventually'. Your application is going to be processed through New Delhi. This is normal. IRCC determines where your application will be processed based on your country of nationality and also country of residency. If you don't have permanent status in your current country of residency, they will typically process the application through your country of nationality.

I don't understand how would this work? If I'm not in India which is my country of nationality but I am currently residing in another country. So again, I go back to initial question; when they need to interview me in case or when they want me to submit passport after the DM, where do I go? Do I need to fly to India to do that or where?

Yes I don't have the permanent residence status in the country I'm residing but I do have a visa.

Thank you
