Hello,

I have a very specific question. Please no negative comments if you don’t have any suggestion. I had relationship with a Canadian citizen who is already married. I am pregnant with baby now. Will baby be eligible to get Canadian birth certificate if born outside Canada? Father is willing to sign that he is a biological father.

Thanks

Hello,

1. The father can apply for Proof of Citizenship for the child. A Signature won't be enough, he will require proof that he is the father, you can probably be expect to be asked for a DNA test of the child and the father, unless his name is on the birth certificate.

in case he will refuse to acknowledge that he is father you need to have that proof first. And even DNA itself will not be enough. As in that case it has to be confirmed by judge. Only then you can add him as a father against his will.
