Today marks 6 months since Inprocess! Hopefully Hamilton office sends me the test invite soon :)
Do you know your application is in Hamilton? My application should also go to Hamilton office, and i am in process for last 5 months. I called cic they said that my application is still in Nova Scotia and hasn't even been sent to Hamilton. Not sure why application hasn't been sent to local office.

The canadian govt is really just running a shit show it seems. we became eligible (including work permit time) a long time ago and suddenly one day govt changes the eligibility from 3 to 4 years retroactively. WTF! Govt should have at least accept people who were eligible. But its OK, no problem, we will wait for 2 years, and then when we become eligible again, another govt comes and changes eligibility from 4 to 3 years. WTF! Now we are stuck in huge backlog. Govt should have atleast given preference to people who were waiting for a long time, but NO. in the end its people like us who suffer because of politics by these incompetent govt officials.

Same is happening with Parental Immigration, shit show continues......

Yes it’s in Hamilton. I called them and they told me that all my background checks are done and apparently I am waiting in line for a test for the past 4 months as their response has been the same every time I have called them. It sucks the way the whole process works! Some get before and some wait for no reason. Unless they really have a reason which is not disclosed!

That's crazy... it's been 5 months for me but I did receive the FP request. Waiting for them to respond since I had got it done immediately.
I haven’t received any FP request and have been told all my background checks are done and the next step should be test invite.

What's with all the entitlement here? Yeah, this process takes a long time, and waiting sucks, but you're already permanent residents so there's no danger of running out of time and getting deported. And you're applying to become a lifetime citizen - can people not see why it might take a little bit of time to double check that you are who you claim to be, and that you are actually eligible?

Do some googling and have a look at how long it takes to become a citizen in some other comparable western countries. It's about as long, if not longer than Canada. And often the costs are far higher elsewhere, and the process is more intrusive and restrictive to your day to day life. I checked the USA, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, and all of them require you to be a resident longer than Canada does, have harder to maintain residency requirement than Canada does, and the processing times from application to grant of citizenship are all longer than 12 months.

We've got it pretty damn good if you ask me. It's really annoying seeing people getting so angry after only 6-7 months of waiting.

Personally, I'm immensely grateful that Canada is actually considering allowing me to soon become one of them. They don't have to do this. I have no "right" to be Canadian, but they're (hopefully) going to let me become Canadian anyway, just as soon as they finish checking that I meet their quite reasonable requirements.
