Hello Everyone,

Has anyone tried Airbnb as a short term option upon landing? Also any tips on the best sites to find an apt or a room share would be very helpful.

What city are you planning to do your landing in? I did use AirBNB for a couple months, before going back to my home country. Actually worked out really well, and I managed to meet some people I'm still friends with.

@Mthornt, thanks for your response! It’s Toronto. I’ll probably try it then. Thanks again :)

I am trying to look for places in Toronto too. Which areas would you recommend for easy travel and ideal for job search?

I would try to stay somewhere near a subway station, so it's easier to get around. When I used AirBNB it was in Montreal, I'm still learning my way around TO. Make sure to pay close attention to the reviews, that will help you determine whether the place is in a nice area, and what the hosts are like.

For folks who are already in Toronto.
Is it a good idea to ship your car from the US to Canada? I heard insurance is costly there but when I did my own research, the average cost of insurance is CAD $200.
If anyone has experience in shipping their car to Canada from the US, please share details.
Thanks in advance.

What worked best for us was to ship one car to the Buffalo area, and then drive it to the border upon arriving in the area. If you're bringing it into Canada, it's best to begin the import process a few days ahead of shipping the car up. Since we also had another vehicle, we drove that one across country to the border, and ended up selling it on the US side once our trip was complete.

In terms of insurance, we used a broker which helped tremendously in getting a good deal, we pay about $155 for 1 car. The important thing is to get a driving experience letter from you current insurer in the US. If you have a good driving record, especially showing 10+ years of experience, it can help to dramatically drop your insurance cost. I first shopped online, and got quotes of $500 a month, then called a couple companies, and got quoted between $280 - 300 per month. Last, I used a broker, and provided our driving experience letters, and settled at $155 per month. Best of luck...

No prob, if you decide otherwise, I can provide you the contact info for a broker that can coach you through your best option for your specific situation.

Hello

1. Hoping anyone can help me with my query. I have been in US on EAD (green card pending) for past 5 years. Do we need to upload EAD card while submitting e-apr documents after ITA?

2. Do we need to submit all previous EAD cards as well?

3. My current EAD card is expiring in December 2018 and I have applied for an extension. Do I need to explain anything in LOE regarding the EAD and extension of EAD?

Thanks in advance

Hello All,

I have a question regarding Proof of funds letters from financial institutions.

I am with chase and I do not have any chase bank ( physical location) in my state. I have to travel 4 to 5 hours to get to the nearest one. Do I need to get a letter from them saying that my current balance and my average six month balance or just the statements which I can get from my online account?

Thanks in advace
