Hi

I am currently applying for a job in Ontario and would like to give the employer an indication of when I can arrive in Canada to start working. We are in New Zealand. I have spoken to them and they are interested but hesitant due to the time it will take.

I am eligible as a skilled migrant for express entry - but indications are that this could take 5-7 months which is too long.

I'm married to a Canadian so family sponsorship (also fully eligible) is a possibility - but indications is that this takes 12 months.

So my question is, is there a faster way for me to gain a visa to work in Canada, and how long would this likely take?

I don't anticipate any issues once the application is submitted.

The last option is a work sponsor visa, while fast not ideal in terms of evidence required/ being tied to a company.

Thanks

There is really no fast option.

Fastest option of those available is likely inland sponsorship through your Canadian spouse. You would need to come to Canada first (you can only apply inland if you are both physically in Canada). You would then submit an inland spousal sponsorship application along with an open work permit application. The OWP will be approved approximately four months after the complete inland sponsorship application is received (could be a bit sooner than four months).

Thanks Scylla, I was hoping for something sooner.....
