Myself Karanvir Singh, 40 years of age from India. I want to immigrate to Canada with my family but have gone through Mitral Valve replacement surgery and after that I am perfectly alright will it be a problem in my medical report. Kindly suggest.

Karanvir: The metal valve will last a lifetime but requires you to take blood thinners. Its life depends on your age, your overall health, other medical conditions you have, your heart function. Biologic valves are more prone to deterioration and may require a second operation. In your case; mechanical valve lasts longer, but patients have to take a blood thinner for life to prevent dangerous clots and bleeding. It is hard to say and will be a Q.
