Hi, I need help. This situation is fresh but I need to know what I can do as I don't want to return to Ireland.

I've been in Canada on a work permit since 2014 and it just got extended in July until 2020. I applied for my PR in May/June under Common-Law as I was dating/living with my boyfriend for a few years now (edit: he was born and raised in Canada). We just broke up and while I'm devastated, I'm more worried about what's to come. Realistically, what are my options? I plan to eventually speak with a Lawyer but it's all too fresh at the moment and I need some time to digest.

My sister and her common-law boyfriend (both from Ireland) live in the same city as me with their two (Canadian-born) children and they are both permanent residents, if that helps at all.

Thanks in advance and let me know if any more information needs to be provided.

You can remain in Canada and continue working until July 2020.

The common law sponsorship application is dead.

If you wish to apply for PR, you will have to qualify on your own through an economic immigration stream like Express Entry.

Don't forget to tell your ex to withdraw the sponsorship application. As @scylla said, it's dead anyway because the relationship is terminated. Your sister's circumstances are of no benefit to you, except that you can claim extra Express Entry points for her.
