Mine are the same as you but the only difference is that they started to process my application on January, 9th,2018. I think the one year period is when they received a complete application.
woohoo! so when they received it is Nov 6 for me and must be around the same time for you I guess? Much better than waiting till effing Jan. Don't worry, its almost there...whats a few more months after several years?!

Mastering the art of patience, one hour, one day and one week at a time! This is all mine still says and both guys I spoke to at the CIC said my file/case is so straight forward they are not sure what's taking so long at the Mississauga office:
  1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on November 6, 2017.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on December 18, 2017.
  3. We started processing your application on January 2, 2018.
I know, I know, be patient...hang in there lol...but I am curious, the 1 year processing time rule - it applies from when to when? From Nov 6 2017 to Nov 6 2018 or from From Jan 2 2018 to Jan 2 2019?

  1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on November 6, 2017.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on January 29, 2018.
  3. We started processing your application on February 22, 2018.
  4. We sent you correspondence on March 21, 2018. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.

This is my time line. Same boat as you are. So i called them yesterday asking what's going on with my file. I told them i have sent my fingerprints on March 30th. The agent was not even sure if IRCC received my fingerprints or not. Then i asked him how long do i have to wait for Test invitation. He replied "Everything including Test and Oath should be done Before November 6, 2018 depending on the case. Some application are processed within a year some takes longer. They are still doing your background check."

Thanks for sharing your experience. Curiously, how can it take longer than 1 year when their website says the maximum deadline is up to a year?

Hopefully our citizenship test will be in Sept sometime and the oath right after.

I hope so, I spoke to an agent about one week and she said that you should receive the test within one month maximally. I am not sure of what she said though

In 2017, between mid October and mid November, IRCC had received over 200000 applications. I am guessing, they were overwhelmed with that experience. “Majority of those who have received test invites, oaths and or their passports are not part of this forum.” I had a chat with a constituency assistant, who then told me that immigration are doing everything they could to get those completed within the average processing time. Some do get theirs early, that’s actually a good news because ours would be in line to be completed. Some of the milestones/ events take a little longer. For example, the background checks, security. The person who has to respond back to our application officer may take an extra day to about a week. There could be other factors too, like summer vacations, sick leaves.
It’s been a good journey for most and most have been really helpful. Some have been realist and others seekers.

Like a dear friend said; have waited years, couple more months wait won’t be a big deal.

Hello guys,

I was able to reschedule my citizenship ceremony and I received a new invitation. It is scheduled to be held on September 19, 2018. Admin please update my timeline :).

I have one question, how many people can I bring to the ceremony?.
When I first received my notice to appear I was mailed 2 tickets but this time I was not mailed anything, I wonder if bringing 3 people will be too much ?

At least I feel that I am not alone lol
Include my mom & dad's application.... I became Canadian last year, and it took us approx 8 months for the complete process.
Plus 2 weeks for the passport.

In my experience (last year), the longest wait time was for the oath taking (which took 3-4 months) of the entire process.
I was kind of curious if my parents application were isolated, but it seems to be the current trend. I actually needed to renew both their PR cards to not disrupt any current travel plans.

Thank you guys. They are testing everyone's patience.....

Thats the Problem here with the current F*** government. They can do the background check within a day for people they bring from outside Canada but when it comes to PR within Canada their F*** asses are tired of getting too many files all at once? Mind you, I'm not against the more people coming to Canada but just frustrated how they treat the people already within Canada including my group here.

I hear you and could understand your frustration. Are they doing background check in your case?
