Personally not sure if there is a formal process to cancel a visitor visa maybe others will comment on that. But why cancel it anyway just because has been issued it does not have to be used and there are no consequences to either cancel or not use, at least as far as Canada is concerned.
Thanks for your feedback. Basically they got invited to come because of a family celebration. They realize they can't attend the party because of other engagements. Could they still visit even after the celebration date? The visa is for six month.
They can use visa any time they wish, regardless of the celebration date, as long as it’s before the printed date on the visa.
