Greetings,
I live in New York and my parents are coming to visit me from India. They carry Indian passports. I am planning on applying for a visitor visa to Canada for them while they are here in the United States. I started an online application and as part of that, one of the questions the application asks is county or residence. I was wondering should I say United States since they would be physically located in the United States during the stay or if should I say they are in India(in which case I am not sure if they would be directed to the embassy in India).

Thank you in advance and any advice you can provide would be appreciated.

If your parents are still in India when you apply, state India as country of residence. If they are currently in the States, then US would be current country of residence.

It's advisable to apply when they are in India to which they have stronger ties than in the US when they are visitors. In this case, their mailing address would be their India address (their current location).

Online applications can be processed by any IRCC global visa office

Thank you! Unfortunately there is not enough time to process it in India. They will be here end of this month. I will wait till then and apply for a visitor visa from here.

You can submit their visa application while they are still in India. It will keep processing while they are in the States. If their visa is approved, they can submit their passport in the US at any VAC office.

Submit online applications, not paper ones.

Also, request for CAN+ processing
