Hi,
We have submitted our spouse sponsorship application and currently have received AOR1, SA and our request for medical exams (our appointment for these is next week). However in 3 weeks time we will be going to Canada for a while (5-6months).

I’m aware I need to update our contact information but I was wondering if I should do it now before we go in 3 weeks or just wait until we have actually got to Canada? The reason for my question on this is because I’m wondering if your location affects which visa office will process the rest of the application. I’d hate for them to forward it to the Australian office and then we are in Canada for a while....would this cause any issues?

Any advice on the best way to approach this as to not slow the application process down?

Thanks,
Emma

Hi Emma,
I will be submitting my documents for FSW on 3rd July 2018, so will get the AOR tomorrow. I just got my medical done on 22nd and got the results today itself.

I would recommend you to be sure that you get the results of the medical assessment before u travel to canada. Bupa Clinic usually completes the assessment in 5 working days. In case there is some problem they call the person again for retest or some other things like that.( I met few people at the clinic who were called again after a week) so make sure you don't have that kinda problem.

Even I am thinking of travelling to India now and when the PPR stage arises then will submit the passport there. But the drawback is there are a lot of applications from India and it takes longer from there.
Similarly even in Canada it seems it takes a bit longer as lots of applications are processed there.

But if you are gonna be there then it docent make that much of a difference, just like my case!!

Good Luck,
Vaibhav

Thanks for the response Vaibhav. Yes, I'm pretty sure I will have time for the medical results to be in before we go...thanks for that tip, I hadn't actually considered having to go back for further tests.

So I guess just wait until we are in Canada and then change the address and contact details....then if the paperwork does end up getting forwarded to Australia while I'm in Canada I'll just have to deal with the process that way?

Thanks,
Emma

Yes,I think thats the ideal thing to do.
Some people on this site have mentioned that even after getting the medical reasults they are approved in the system after 20 or 25 days only. after the Canadian panel approves it.

So I guess they won't send the paperwork to Australia so soon.

So yeah once you are there then you can do the changes.
