I have to travel to the states for one week of work. I am still waiting for my PR card. What do I need to get? For both legs of the journey? Thanks

You'll need to tell us what country you are from (i.e. what passport you hold) - and if you plan to fly or drive to the US.

I am from the UK, I will be flying to grand junction Colorado. I am a permanent resident of Canada just have not received my pr card yet. I will be getting paid from Canada.

You need a valid PR card or PR Travel Document to return to Canada via plane. A week in the US may not give you enough time to get a PR Travel Document. If you don't have your PR card by the time you have to travel, recommend that on your return home, you fly to the nearest US city airport close to where you live and then you can re-enter Canada through a US/Canada land border using your COPR. You'll need to use a private vehicle to re-enter Canada or do so on foot (no bus).

Would I be able to get my employer to send the form off?
No you have to apply for a PRTD whilst outside of Canada your employer would not be involved could not be involved at all . So without a PR card your only real option given only a 1 week trip is to come back through a US / Canada land border.

Ah okay. I thought maybe filling out the form and sending it to them ahead of me getting there may be a way around the waiting time.

Nope. You have to send your passport along with the PRTD application. So you can't do it until you are physically outside of Canada.
