Hi!

I just mailed out my sponsorship documents (+ open work permit) today. I'm Australian, being sponsored by my common-law partner - he's Australian/Canadian. We've only been living together since moving to Canada - so I couldn't apply for the visa until we had established common-law, although we've been dating for 4+ years.

I'm having trouble finding information on travelling while the application is processing. We're planning on heading back to Australia for a friend's wedding and to see family (4 weeks away, 3 in Australia, 1 in USA). I'll be arriving back with about 2 months still remaining on my work-permit. According to information I've read there should be no problems with this, is that correct?

Then, I was hoping to visit South Korea and Taiwan in April 2019. As far as I'm aware on this, I won't be able to leave Canada unless my spousal visa and open work permit is approved. Is this also correct? I don't want to jeopardize my application at all, but from reading information on the CIC website, the answer isn't clear to me.

Thanks in advance - I really appreciate the advice!

ETA; I am holding a job in Canada that has employed me for almost a year and a half so far, and are going to keep employing me into my next visa.
