1. Of course, there are no immigration controls on domestic flights in Canada.

Yes only just seeing this but we flew last fall with my wife out of status without any problems (dont even think we had the AOR for the sponsorship app at that stage but it doesnt matter), as long as you are staying within Canada then there aren't any immigration checks. Just make sure you have a valid ID (my wife had her home country passport) and it matches the boarding pass.
